No, but I saw database errors and horrendous slowdowns a couple days ago late night/early morning.

I'm thinking either we are having high server load (doesn't seem to be the case judging only by number of users, unless spammers or hackers are involved) or someone is tweaking vB (the actual mysterious forums adminstrator, perhaps) .

Yes, and no. I got the database error, but not logged out. I saw similar errors a few days ago as well.

Yes, it happened to me 15 or 20 minutes ago (DB error, but not logged out). The site has been horribly slow for me both at work and at home as well.

Yeah, I was gonna post about it but decided not too since nobody mentioned it. I was getting Vbulletin database errors about 90 percent of the time I tried to connect.

Not logged out, but this site's gone to hell over the last month or so. It surprises me now when a page refreshes without pause. I had better performance on 56k.

Yup, database error here, and the main site also displayed an error message.

No logout though.

Your 5-day deodorant failed...and it's only been 4 days? :p

I had the database errors a couple of days ago. Not logging me out, but the site's been dammed slow since then.

It's getting worse overall.
The response time when opening a message, replying, etc. is taking very long.

Yeah.

This is why I've said in the past that it would be nice if we could get regular updates from the forum administrator (I mean the actual one in charge, not the people who just have the fancy titles).

But every time I make that suggestion, I either get asked "what for? nothing is going on, anything major like forum switch gets posted anyway", or told "the moderation/administration staff has nothing to do with the technical aspects of running the forums".

Which kind of sucks, because obviously the forums here are very glitchy compared even to far larger forums, and apparently it's not even just dependent on forum software since it's been unpredictable on FuseTalk and now vB.

At least a heads up would be nice before maintenance is done on the server. I've said this a thousand times, but can't we do something about the disconnect in the running of the forums and the main site? It's a tech website for crying out loud!

Just tested logging out and back in, no issues here for that.

But I agree with others, overall speed of forums has been quite slow for a while, just glad they are still up though.

Compared to this place - http://gaiaonline.com/forum - definitely.

Now I'm not a member there but just browsing the forums there response seems quite good given the number of active members at any given time.
