You don't know networking hell in an office until you have to manage and configure windows for workgroups.

Same. Win3.1 was bloated. I used a shareware program that put graphical boxes on the desktop, and had text for the different programs. I used that to launch my stuff. Otherwise, I did everything in DOS.

Wait wait wait wait.... the PS Menu? Everything was basically a 4x4 (or was it 4x3?) grid that was gray boxes that you could either write things in each box or do a paint-esque drawing of?

I believe you man. Networking in my house has always been a nightmare. All of my computers all seem to communicate fine. Every other computer in the house that is not owned by me will say it doesn't have permission even though it has the same exact users and passwords as all of the other computers.

I remember installing Win95 from 3.5 diskettes. Ugh. Those were exciting times though, I remember playing Red Alert in higher resolution than I could with the original DOS mode.

Windows 2000 and Windows Millenium Edition (ME) were two separate beasts, i assume you are talking about ME, NOT 2000, 2000 was quite stable and there are still machines out there in production using it.

My first machine was DOS, a IBM PS2, sporting a whopping 20MB HDD, a 286 processor at a blazing 11MHz and 512KB of RAM... yes, KB, HALF a MEG. Had a word processor, several games including Wheel of Fortune, Snarf, and Leisure Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. We dolled out $3000 for that ah heck and used it from 1987/88 to about 1997 when i finally said I can't use this stupid thing anymore, i'm buying my own (the PS2 was the "family" computer), and paid $500 for a P166 with a 3GB HDD, a VooDoo 1 video card, and 64MB of RAM.

That puter had Win95c on it, which was for all intents and purposes, Windows 98. Worked well for several years until 2000 when i upgraded to a 350MHz PII actually running ME. Ive always been behind in hardware, always will be probably.

I never had much issues with 95 though, only some minor finagling to get he Diamond Monster Fusion card I bought in 1998 as an upgrade to play Quake II at 60fps instead of 30fps. Needed some manual file copies, but other than that, I didn't dislike it.

I've never had a problem with it either. My family computer was a 120mhz P1 with something like 32mb ram. I don't ever remember that thing crashing. I have some great memories on that computer.
