aka Skywalker66's biography.

Freakin' retard turned down a nice prostitute.

He also turned down a girl (that he went ice skating with) that had a lovely ass.

Thank god a kindred spirit. I think it was one of the most annoying books ever, just a whiney kid bitching the entire time. Dont understand why so many people think its so good, i hated reading it highschool.

It's one of those books that people either hate or love.

I think mostly because people either relate to Holden or they don't. It's really that simple. I think the same goes for The Great Gatsby, one of the most amazing usages of symbolism in literature.

It's a good book to recommend for the highschool age kids, as the thoughts the protagonist has can be refreshing if you haven't had the chance to come up with those views on your own. Once you've grown up a little you've hopefully given enough time thinging on these things and the ideas expressed by books of this kind can seem shallow and simplistic.

I read it int ranslation and liked it. But then, a lot of people say, that particular translation was better than Vonnegut's writing. Gotta reread it in original.

Tried reading it a couple years ago and hated it so much that I didn't finish it. Perhaps I should have read it when I was 12 so I could relate to that little prick. :p

We also didn't read it in high school. I read it about two years after I graduated. I didn't think it was a bad book, but not great either. 6/10, I'd say.

Catcher in the Rye is the #2 banned book in high schools... I forget which the first was.

I thought it was an interesting read, gives some perspective into the thought processes of people that are usually just dismissed as "crazy".

I read it like 20 years ago when I was in high school. Don't remember much about it though.
