anyone else pop gum when they chew?

this is a strange habit of mine. i can pop dozens of times in under a minute. i do it constantly, in public places. its unprofessional, but i cannot stop. who else does this? how can i stop?

I haven't chewed gum in years...well, in terms of bubble gum. I'll have some minty gum after dinner but I'll spit that out after a few minutes.

I never popped my gum when I chewed in high school/college though.

I do so quietly. And if I've got to take a phonecall, the gum comes out.

My roommate sounds like a bulldozer with a vacuum attachment when he eats. I once counted, he popped his piece of gum at a rate of 30 pops/minute. Chewing with a closed mouth is unknown to him apparently.
