A great board game that I've played dozens of times. I recently picked up the european campaign and am going to play it for the 2nd time tonight. Kinda lost on strategy still.

For those who are lost its a strategy board game set during WW2. Lots of fun, and game lasts around 5-8 hours.

That's a great game! Unfortunately I have nobody to play with. One downside of having graduated. :(

I played the old "analog" version of Axis and Allies quite a bit during the 80s. With 5 real human players, the game can be really enjoyable.

I have the PC version around here somewhere. The Germans are usually my choice. Russia becomes the primary objective while simultaneously giving the UK a difficult time down in Africa.

I've played on my PC; it's a fun game. More fun though is Massive Assault - great TBS game that really makes you think.

bleh, i hate the pc version :p Real opponents are the only ones I want with a nice big game board.

yes...AWESOME game. Spent HOURS with it. Ive seen russia defeated, only to be brought back by her allies 2 full turns later because the US landed a massive force and the UK finally got its sh!t together. God...what fun :)

I've seen the Japanese fleet demolish the US fleet in the Pacific to the point that they floated to the Atlantic to get some action.

And there was a scenario where China actually never fell to Japan and thus the entire Japanese front collapsed.

Somehow in my games with friends, it all boiled down to a massive assault between Germany and Russia. Whoever won caused that side to win.

Yeah, I used to. The original game was flawed though. Google it, and you'll find a way for Mother Russia to kick everyone's ass.

The game is way too chancy...i've seen tankers take out my beautiful bombers with parting shots, or stupid things like russia amassing 50-60 troops which makes it unbeatable. Easy battles that are supposed to be won (like the initial japanese one if the pacific) is too dependent on rolls. Its a great board game, but the time and effort involved isn't really worth it for me.

Great, great game! I play it with my friends whenever I'm home on break, actually, I friend of mine and I are playing A World At War up at college. AWAW is basically A&A on steroids. Like 1000X more complicated.

I love A&A so much, that using the Europe pieces, I created a Korea variant (I made an new board using the giant plotter at my dad's office :D).

i played the original quite a bit... we'd do it with two boards so that opposing sides can't see each other's crap. modified the rules a bit for spy plane missions and the like... best time i ever had with that was nazi germany invading eastern united states with 50 tanks the turn after the US took japan, tons of money for germany

We found a variant in which you combined A&A europe and A&A Pacific, and let the americans convert their money at a 2:1 ratio between europe and japan, unfortunately, one of my friends came up with a strategy that made defeating Japan in the pacific impossible, so we realized that Japan couldn't attack the US for at least four turns (the strategy focused on india), so for two turns, the US in europe could have double prodution. Needless to day, Germany was then screwed. We haven't played pacific since.
