Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the news on NPR has been a bit more washed over the past 6 months? They keep talking about music and nature and stuff and have stopped for the most part in discussing world politics. Not that music and the other stuff is bad to talk about, but can't they do both. Is this because the National funding for public radio and public television was cut and now they have to sway to the interests of their investors? I am starting to listen to the BBC a little more now instead of NPR because I noticed this trend, but I still listen to Jefferson Keeler. I am just wondering.

Good! They don't need to be spewing liberal propaganda with my tax dollars. They should avoid politics completely and focus on the arts.

Unless of course we could start paying Rush Limbaugh with tax dollars too, but then again, he wouldn't accept them...nor needs them because his program adheres to traditional supply and demand.

Try following up on world news everyday and you will notice how many big events in world politics get shortchanged by NPR now. 6 months ago that wasn't the case.

Like his strong relationship with the pharmaceutical industry?

Once again, all the liberal can do is resort to the politics of personal destruction. How weak.

Unfortunately, this is a highly charged politcal argument as well. (e.g. "What is art?")

It wasn't Aves that said that it was GTaudiophile.

I just put two posts together to save time.

NPR is the best news we have in this country. anyone who thinks its liberal propaganda has probably only listen to people talking about NPR not actually to NPR.
the station by me has dramatically decreased their music coverage, which is sad, but i understand it as a response to some extreme idiots who are trying abolish all of NPR by putting on wall-to-wall news. good for them. keep it up, they rule.

Heh. I listen to NPR most mornings...until it makes me puke...and I switch to Neil Boortz.

The BBC I do like! That is real world news.

Or they are so far to the right that they can't recognize the center.

Telling someone to keep P&N in P&N is a liberal attack?

The word "punk" is a verbal attack, yes. I also think it's racist and he should apologize and/or accept all responsibilty at the federal level.

I am not saying that they should abolish the arts. That is exactly what public radio needs, but I just thought it was sad that they haven't been covering world news as much as 6 months ago.

Anyone who insinuates that I don't listen or support NPR doesn't know me very well, and I vote to the left usually (I am more of a moderate though). I don't want "wall-to-wall" news, public radio is great because of the great arts that they cover. I just wanted to see more coverage on the broad spectrum. Lately, it seems that the direction of the news is changing.

I wasn't necessarily referring to you. :p

I would like an example of NPR's "liberal propaganda" though.

well, listen, i was getting heated about the "liberal propaganda" not the legitimate critism of the change in NPR's content. i dont know where you are (ie: what station you listen to) but the two or three by me have turned toward MORE world news, with BBC world news playing in AM drive time and only a slight shift in the noon-time by putting on gary knowles (going off of spelling i sort of remember from an ex that used to read all his stuff. sort of cant stand him on the radio)
again, wasnt really aiming the "you dont listen to npr" to anyone who wasnt claiming it was hardcore liberal mouthpiece.
