Anyone else notice this in the Supreme Court ruling?

I'm sorry, but the Republican lawyers, one of whom claimed to not know the law of Texas on manual recounts, were dreadful. Lousy arguments equals lousy results.

The sole, and stunning exception, was Richard, whose arguments were pointed and strong. Although I'm a Gore supporter, I thought his arguments should have prevailed.

However, after reading the narrow opinion of the Florida Supreme Court, I think they ruled properly. They left standards to the counties and they invoked a very swift deadline. A lot of votes may not be counted over this holiday because of the time pressures. I think the Court did the right thing, but still gave Bush a big chance to win.

The lawyers in this case would have made no difference whatsoever, since the judges obviously had no intent to deviate from their political affiliation regardless of what arguments would be presented. After all, how can you expect anything else when several of them are big contributors to the Gore campaign??
