Anyone else notice the new Thinkpad G-Series?

Yeah, I'd noticed it too. What exactly differentiates it from the A-series?

It has the desktop P4 processor instead of the P4-M, allowing the high-end model to be 3.06GHz. Doesn't look like they have HyperThreading yet, though.

HTH.

I think the G40 series is aimed at users with little need to work on the road but need the compactness of a notebook for the occassional trip or just because their desk space is limited. As they are intended mainly for use at home or the office they don't need to be power misers and they are built with everything on-board without the need for docking bays etc.
I would be interested to hear what you have to say on these as I am thinking of buying the 2GHz Celeron model.

They look quite bulky and ugly. A true desknote. The bottom half of the chassis has got a rather steep slant to it, probably for keyboard comfort.
