Anyone Else NOT Own Critters?

So we have a fat cat, a cat up a tree and a puppy who bites. That's just today's menagerie! We owned a few pets as kids. That's why I don't own any now. Once in a while, someone in the family will ask about getting a pet of some kind, but the thought quickly passes.

My parents got rid of their cats... finally. Everybody that visited them was allergic. In-laws haven't had a dog in 20 years. My sister has a big lab and a parrot. My brother has a lab and a couple flat nosed 'mop dogs', one of which has bitten everybody at least once. They may have a cat too... a zoo!

Just wondering what the ratio of pet owners to non pet owners is. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I'm used to that!

I'd love to have a dog or cat, but can't. Can't have a cat because I break out in hives from them. Can't have a dog because neither my wife or I have static enough schedules to guarantee we can provide it the attention that it would need.

We'd love to have a dog, but it's just not possible at this point in our lives.

Get a snake. Only the occasional mouse to feed it :Q

I don't. I'd love to get a German Shepherd but I think it would be neglectful of me since I live alone and the dog would be by himself in the apartment all day.

I had a cat that I miss dearly. She was a wonderfull pet.

There are other pets that you could get: a small bird, fish, tarantula, etc.

I'm another renter who can't have a pet. Once we move, we have 2 Alaskan huskies waiting for us. They are sisters, and about 3 months old, right now. 2 more months, and I will be a pet owner again. :D

I used to have a Yorkshire Terrier, Boxer, and Irish Setter. Only had one of them at a time, though.

No pets. I had two dogs as a kid, but I don't have the time or want to spend the money to have a pet now.

I have no pets, but my roommate & his wife have two cats.

That's enough pet for me, I can pester them when I feel like being around a cat, & I don't have to feed them or clean up after them.

You have a cat named Pyewacket? That's freaky. My HS English teacher had a cat named Pyewacket. She talked about him all the time. I used to joke with her constantly. He died during my senior year. It was a tough time for her b/c he was like her son.

The day he died, she was out. And someone told me she wasn't in today, and I jokingly said, "What, did Pyewacket kick the bucket?" And the person who told me said "Well....actually....."

Oops

I forgot to mention that I could never live without a pet. Especially a dog. My whole life my family has had dogs, so it would be very difficult for me to not have one.

After my female dog died last year of pyometra, I got a cat as a companion for my other dog.

I could live without a cat, but not without a dog.

She probably got the name from the same place we did.

Whoa, evil Siamese, eh? Bet he keeps the boxer in his place! ;)

The dogs I grew up with generally pissed me off. Once they got loose, they wouldn't return until they were ready. F that! I always said, if I had my own dog, that would NEVER happen. It boils down to training and discipline. Well, we haven't had to worry about it, because I opted to not take on the responsibility. We've got enough other stuff to keep us busy.
