WTF is a tablet for anyway? Just so you can bring an annoyingly internet connected device with you everywhere?

i want mine to replace paper. i hate paper.

between google tasks, which i use as a quick todo/notepad, and ms one note w/ skydrive, i can generally get away without ever bothering with paper at all. ..type something on my phone or laptop or a web interface and all devices sync and have the information everywhere

Only good for people who like facebook, who like to browse, play games and check emails. When I say check, I mean check. Only responses you can type on those are 1 or 2 liners.

I know you have memory problems and all, but do you know how to use Google or anything, or is it all mindless stream of consciousness drivel that you post?

It has been well established that hal9000 is incapable of using teh google. He prefers to get other posters to break the information down into bite sized chunks for him...

I tried using a tablet for a while. Infuriated me. Unless all you do is read websites, never interact with anything, and hate using a keyboard, a laptop is such a better choice.

Anything that requires any sort of interactivity, typing, saving files, its a waste of time to use a tablet.

I honestly have no problems typing on a screen. iPad practically replaces a personal use computer for me. Not QUITE, but close. Like 90% or so.

Same for me. I type so much on my iPad that its screwing up my ability to type on a regular keyboard. I keep expecting my computer to add apostrophes and correct my spelling without any help from me now.

Did you get another iPad after your iPad 2 was stolen?
I reverted to my ipad 1. It upset the kids because they like watching sesame street on it and playing the letter-train game.

But it's that or print hundreds of pages a week :(.

I decided to put off purchasing the ipad 3 and got clothing befitting someone lecturing infront of a business class instead.

Right now with my long hair, beard, sports coat and khaki slacks I look like I should be in front of a freshman english class... I wouldn't trust that guy to tell me how to run a business.

Lenovo came out with a prototype unit during a recent tradeshow, may have been CES.

It was essentially a laptop you could convert into a tablet.

In my eyes, this is the future. This design is the one that bridges the tablet world with the laptop world, and it's incredible nobody else has come up with something like this since. A tablet will never be a replacement for a laptop, so why not have the best of both worlds?

eh?

Asus Transformer is already in it's 2nd generation, the newest model (Prime) being released in early January this year, with an update in ~June (ICS). So, there has been an Android tablet with keyboard dock on the market for well over a year now.

The title of CEO of a major corporation. I've got nothing but a hell-of-a-lot of empirical information regarding how functional companies run; and only personal experience in failing at running such companies before I knew what I do now.

Maybe I have no business teaching business unless I run a successful business...

But then maybe "practical" knowledge in one field is directly related to not being able to accept more general knowledge that goes across fileds...

They are pretty cool and I wish desktop displays were same pixel density as ipad. I have really good eyes like better than 20/20 and see screen door with all desktop monitors.

I use an iFaraday stylus, no more fingerprints. Just took tf101 camping with gf in case we wanted to watch something after it got dark and we turned in. Easily fit in my pack, we watched 2 movies and almost entire season of bored to death, browsed news when In town, she played few games on way to camp - still had 25%+ battery life on way home after camping two nights. Try doing that with your tv or laptop, especially for $300.

You're comparing the thing to stuff that it isn't meant to be compared to. Personally i feel there was definitely a nitch between smart phones and laptops. Tablets fill this nitch nicely IMO.

This. Using a retina display ipad for a short while and looking at an ipad2 makes me want to throw up. D: It's like comparing an iphone 3G/3GS to 4! No comparison!

I would LOVE to have a notebook with a 14" 2560x1600 display or a 17" 4K display! :awe:

I have an HP tablet. Only reason I have it was because of their close out price, cost me a little over a $100. No way I would pay more than that, especially over $500 for one. Like you said typing on them is a PITA. Although I have a cool ant farm :)
