Anyone else not feeling the Christmas Spirit this year?

I'm usually all about the gifts, but this year, I'm just not feeling the Christmas Spirit. I might end up just getting everyone on my list gift certificates 🙁

Ditto. I'm in a new city, don't know anyone and have no desire to go out and meet people. Money is tight...it's going to be Swiss Colony Meat and Cheese boxes for the few people I'm buying for this year.

I could care less about XMas, to be honest. I have a raise coming in March. That's all I care about right now. This Dec might as well be Feb or Aug or whatever.

I never feel it, I am the Anti-Christmas.

I have to be really careful around the g/f + my sister though, they get such a thrill out of it & it doesn't take much from me to stifle it for them.

🙁

In other words, you haven't changed a bit.

I am actually getting into it earlier than usual this year. Perhaps because I already started shopping, the decorations are up at work, the music is playing everywhere, and I bought an advent calendar for one of our interns.

Best of all, on the 18th I fly to Berlin...the Germans KNOW how to celebrate Christmas...and many of our traditions come from them...nothing like a German Christmas market with Lebkuchen and Gluehwein to REALLY get you into the spirit!

Correct. People do not change who they are. Why should I? I have been happy in the past. I'm not necessarily happy right now. If I don't have someone special to share XMas with, it means zilch to me...just another day.

Unfortunately, people in the USA get hypnotized by the holiday season. Don't lose your mind over eggnog and inflated prices b/c mass market advertising tells you that it's the right thing to do!

I dislike holidays in general. Why do I get some days off work and have to spend them with people I don't like? Screw that. :|

On the other hand, my wife is the holiday queen. She puts up decorations for EVERY holiday! No matter how puny! I've got a big box full of crap for St. Patrick's day! :Q

I think as we grow older, wiser, and lose our ignorance (others gain it) of the basis for the Christmas spirit. It is to celebrate Christ's birth, not to get stressed out at the long lines in the mall and rack up rather large credit card bills. And yes, it's all true that Christ wasn't even born in the month of December and yet we still celebrate it during that time, go figure? I suppose we need to look at the very definition of the Christmas Spirit and it's current state in order to get everyone on the same level of whether or not we are feeling the Christmas spirit.
