Anyone else never had a pet? And never getting one?

I've never had a pet so I don't know what I'm missing. But I don't want to find out either.

Having a pet seems like too much responsibility, money, and time. Plus the mess: poo, pee, hair, odors, yech. Plus the emotional heartache when they inevitably die.

Dogs, cats, iguanas.. who wants 'em? :hmm:

I do love animals though :awe:

Good luck ever being a relationship. You think having a pet is too much responsibility. Once I buy a house which should be in the next few months you best bet I'll have a dog. Preferably a beautiful Pit from the shelter.

I guess I don't belong in this thread considering I have two dogs laying at my feet and a Sugar Glider on my shoulder at the moment.

Pets are like women; they rock when you pick a good one, but have been known to eat your soul if you choose poorly.

I sometimes regret getting a dog.. I can't just spontaneously go away for a day or two just like that without first getting hold of a pet sitter etc. Otherwise I can only be away for 6-7 hours at most. He's 3.5 now..when he was younger I could only be away for an hour or two.

On the other hand the company dogs provide is invaluable. They're sometimes better than human friends...
