Our local ATT (former BellSouth) will not allow naked DSL. No cable here either so take it or leave it if you want broadband. Boohoo.

You might want to try again & remind them that the sale of Bell South was conditional upon them providing naked DSL...

I thought I heard that they would have to start sometime in January.

Careful. I jumped on this, activating the service yesterday and having them cancel the phone line today. But now, I have no internet and a tech told me that I can't cancel the phone that quickly.

I got it installed a week ago and am very happy with the speed vs. price. Turning off Comcast tomorrow.

I used to have that w/ my DSL previously, but now that i have Telus TV thru them also, they won't let me go w/o phone. :frown:

Over here, it's termed dark or dry DSL btw, though i do know the nekkid reference.

note entirely naked, but my pots is the basic local one. I can't even call local long distance (~$10). Figure that's good for 911, etc.

LOL, I saw this coming.

An AT&T tech stole my line (on freakng Sunday)... Just got my service back.

Seems someone moved into my neighborhood, so a tech was looking for a free line, listened to my line, heard no dial tone & stole my service. :|

Figured it out and had a tech sent out to fix it, he supposedly fixed it & wrote on the trouble ticket that he confirmed I had service with me.

Unfortunately it wasn't true.... A couple of calls later he was back out the next day & really fixed it. I got calls from 4 different people apologizing for the prick...

AT&T is fucking evil :frown:

Sounds like somebody should be fired. Glad you got your service back.

u still got 911?

Nope.

I have the police # on speed dial though, not a big deal.

But what if somebody accidentally eats some desiccant?

After I beat them to death, I'll use the speed dial for the police to pick up the corpse...

Depending on where you live the 6Mbit "Elite" package is available for 34.95. Dry Loop has been available for months around here. I work for AT&T so PM if you got any questions...

EDIT: Saw some other posts where CSR gave you the run around for signing up, I can sign you up directly so lmk. I saved so much money over Comcast when it was finally available in my area.

I'd love to have a faster speed, but my connection goes to hell when they crank up the speed, ended up with 6 months of credit over the fiasco last year...

AT&T did cough up a free month's worth of service for my current troubles.

I just hope they don't steal my line for a while, it's a royal pain in the ass... The support guys said it should have been physically tagged to avoid just this kind of stuff. Hopefully they've done that to my line.
