Anyone else mad about the Duron?

Well, the Duron is sweet and all, and I LOVE the price, and the socket thing, (although, I feel for all you guys who bought slot a's 🙁) but, why only 700? The 700 is not even priced at 200 bucks, so why is there no higher ones? Anyone know when they are coming?

Probably because they don't need to. It's suppose to go up against the Celeron, and it's already killing it at these speeds.

Well, overclock your Duron to 950Mhz. Higher clock parts will be released as necessary to stay ahead of Intel.

Jonny,there is a 750 mhz coming real soon,it`s been price at £157 here in the UK,I won`t be surprised if there is even higher clocked ones coming sometime later.

It isn't faster than 700 because that's the Thunderbird's domain. That's like asking why they don't have 1GHz celerons(well not really). Its meant to be low-end, it just happens to be very fast low end.

here's what i'm mad about, no (good/stable) DDR boards are even on the market.. grrr... oh well, that will hold off my urge to upgrade... i'm waiting for something that will do 1.2Ghz at least for my next upgrade 🙂
