I liked Gettysburg, too. Hope this is good as well.

There was one thing that sort of bothered me. Did anyone else think some of the beards were a little overdone, and obvious fakes?

Hell yeah. Gettysburgh was one of the best movies evar. This is supposed to be the prequel to it.

I heard its 3 hours and 30 minutes long. Awesome.
Of course, I'm a HUGE fan of pre-mordern war movies.

I really want to see this, but if it's 3 1/2 hours I'm going to wait for the DVD. The only movie I could see myself sitting 3 1/2 hours in a theatre for is LoTR: Return of the King.

Mancow talked to a well respeced movie critic this morning about this flick. He didn't like it at all. He said it was boring and had cheap and crappy special effects.

Of course...that will be the opinion of 99% of the public. Civil War movies are a niche industry these days.

I'm more interested in hearing from people who liked the first movie--all 4 hours of it. Did the critic happen to say what he thought of Gettysburg?

Depends on how they portray Robert E Lee and Stonewall. If they don't belittle the character of the man or his military genious then I'll watch.

Edit: Its a shame the way Stonewall was killed as he was a difference maker.

I was looking forward to the video game based on the movie, then I saw this! The troops have mullets , can you believe it. It could have been a cool game.... if it were released in 1995.

I hope it's better than the book...

The movie Gettysburg was based on the classic book "Killer Angels" written by Michael Shaara. Michael Shaara's son, Jeff Shaara, then wrote the "prequel" called "Gods and Generals" which this new movie is based on. Jeff Shaara basically imitates his father's style, though not nearly as well...
