Anyone else live where they have giant cruising festivals?

Just a curious question, I live in a town called Wyandotte in Michigan, and tonight is our 12 annual http://www.cruisindownriver.com/

For a car lover it's like an orgasm to the senses. Doesn't matter what you like you'll see it, ricers, big block's, donks, harley's, racing bikes, classics, new cars, young old...just awesome.

It's slightly lame in that the local PD doesn't allow much in the way of fun, no hole shots/burnouts/racing etc, but people do it anyways and you get to see really crazy engines...like this:

Just driving home I was cruising next to a brand spanking new 2012 Boss 302 Mustang(that was getting pulled over for doing a MASSIVE burnout), a 60s T-bird:thumbsup:, a Dodge Magnum with at least 28 inch wheelsD😀:, a couple drag bikes😱, and a 66 or 67 Shelby GT 350:awe:😎

Just sitting here listening to the big block V8's and the whine of superchargers from my front porch is freaking awesome.

So is this a limited to Michigan thing?? I've always been curious if any other cities have giant car fests like this??

We have a big event like that in my hometown of Logan, UT. One of the bigger cars shows in my neck of the woods. All the cars get lined up at the fairgrounds for a couple days and then the PD would block off main street and let all the participants cruise for a couple hours. Eventually they allow the general public to join in which turns into redneck brawls, burnouts galore, etc.

It a good time, but the real fun starts about 10pm when all the guys wanting to race go find an old backroad. One year we had 300 people and about 100 cars show up to start going at it. Might not sound like much but for our small town of 50,000 it was huge. Eventually the cops would show up and tell everyone to go home. Some would and some would just go find another road.

Love car shows.

We have the Syracuse Nationals here each year. The local police are always on hand to ticket the participants and out of towners for doing anything. They even cone off the extra lanes of nearby roads to avoid aggressive driving (drag racing).

A company I used to work for had their own annual car show, where employees brought in their prized rides. Quite a few classic muscle cars.

I think a local diner used to have a car night.

There's quite a few shows around here weekly during the summer that will have 100+ cars every week. Some of them are basically cruises due to location. Actually, here's a calendar schedule for SE Wisconsin - we have no shortage lol.

I live in SE WI! I'll have to bookmark this link for future perusal.

There isn't shit around Cincinnati. People here mainly buy Honda and Toyota appliances. There's also a ton of BMW 3 series posers.

Looking forward to going to Woodward in a couple of months.

LOL, my uncle is probably one of those posers. Actually, he's a car nut, so he's probably not a poser. He has a BMW M3 (??? year), Porsche 911 (??? year) and I think a Mercedes C350 (around 2 years old). The C350 has quickly become his daily driver due to comfort (of course).

Thanks for reminding me of this. I am going to have to see if my Dad wants to head up there for this

we have the pavilions in scottsdale. lots of cars/ bikes show up all day, usually still some after dark. some weekends suck, some are way cool. you can see everything from ricers to rat rods to custom builds. pretty neat usually.

I was there on Saturday, TraumaRN, did a couple laps in my car and had dinner. Very pleasant way to spend an afternoon. A shame that none of my friends are really into it because it would probably be fun to find somewhere to park and just people/car-watch for a while. Oddly enough it seemed like it was more crowded/congested on the Friday last year (which isnt an official cruise day) than it was on Saturday this year. Maybe the cloudy weather kept some of the longer-distance folks from making the trip.

I grew up in Milton, Ontario which has their Cruising on a Hot Summer Night festival every July. They close down the entire main street and line it with classic cars and have live bands playing early rock & roll. It's July 15th this year.

Well shoot you could have visited, I'm totally into car/people watching during the cruise. I live just a quarter mile or so from Fort street.

Ever been over to Lanes Memorial Day Car show and Cruise in? They have an open hedder cruise through the local towns.

I also enjoy the sensory overload when going out to Woodward.
