Hey, question for the people who frequent DIA. My parents are flying in tomorrow morning for my graduation, estimated arrival 11 am. How likely is it that their flight will be cancelled?

I was supposed to fly home to Colorado through Denver yesterday... but, as I am sure you can all imagine, that didn't happen. We'll see if my flight from PA is able to land at DIA today.

From what I have heard DIA will be lucky to be open again by 3PM.

I'm 27 now. When I was a child, it seemed to me that there was a set date range when there would definitely be snow on the ground. From early December to early March... it would just be snow, snow snow.
Over the years, it's gotten to the point where there can be several straight weeks of no snow during that time period (high 30s, low 40s). And there will definitely be no snow for Christmas this year.![]()
EDIT -- Oh, I guess that makes no sense until I tell you I'm from Michigan![]()

I was out in Denver last December. It snowed really hard on the 6th, then on the 8th it was 60 degrees.

My buddy left yesterday morning for Colorado from down here in Texas. His girlfriend was on a ski trip up there, and he was going up to surprise her with an engagement ringHe got stuck in the storm, the wipers froze up on his rental car, and was still trying to get there last night
But he called later, and said he made it. Woohoo!

That is typical Denver weather. There is a myth out there that we get lots of snow in Denver and its always cold. Really its quite the opposite. We get very little snow and when it does snow its gone in a day or two. The mountains of course hold lots of snow, especially the ski areas, but not denver... Its warm and nice here much of the time.
A few days ago it was mid to high 50's...
Stuff like this rolls in maybe once a year at most. It gets lots of press however continuing the myth that life here is like living in Minnesota...

The locals were so friendly. Huge contrast from here in the northeast. It's funny, about 10 people said the same thing: "We average more than 300 days of sunshine."

Current update on DIA's website is it will be closed until tomorrow morning. I'm betting it's more because the gov't doesn't want people on the roads than the airport itself. Looks like my fiance and I won't be visiting my family for Xmas.I was hoping that our 7:55pm flight would be able to make it out.
They've got something like 4,700 stranded people to deal with. That sucks for the many of them are going to be spending their Xmas in the airport.
People are trying to unbury their cars, snow is still falling (albeit lighter than it was), this city is a mess.
