Anyone else impressed with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon's singing in Walk the Line?

Can you recommend some songs?

I really liked Ring of fire.

Can't go wrong with the songs in the movie (Folsom Prison Blues, Cry Cry Cry etc...) but I also really like the songs that Kris Kristofferson wrote for him (like Sunday Morning Coming Down, the greatest hangover song in history)

I don't have my johnny stuff in front of me at the moment, but when I get back to my music, I'll post some more specific suggestions.

They both did a great job (Witherspoon even had country labels offering contracts), and Phoenix's acting was superb as usual...however, the movie nut in me doesn't think that they'll have any success in the Oscars. I think he's in for a leading actor nom and she a supporting actress, but I don't think he'll win...best picture certainly won't go to them, and I think that the Oscar voters will have "Ray"'s awards too fresh in their minds.

I love Oscar season 😀

Susan and I can't wait to see this movie and we're not country music fans.

I want to see it too and I am definately not a country music fan. Johnny Cash was an American Icon and made some damned good music that went beyond just the "country" genre. 🙂

Someone correct me, but when i read the book "Man in Black" years and years ago, i thought johnny cash said he wrote the song "Blue Suede Shoes" made famous by a contemporary of his some of you may have heard of. 😉

More movie & Cash trivia: actor/musician/boozer Kris Kristofferson's song "Sunday Morning Coming Down", was recorded by Cash and it went on to become 1970's Song Of The Year by the CMA.

edit: Kris is better known to the ATOT public as Whistler in "Blade"
