I'm upgrading from 1001.A, and I seem to be encountering errors. BTW if you use ASUS's update utility you won't be able to find the latest 1002 bios update... you have to go to their website to d/l it and then choose "update bios from file" in the updater. Anyways, so I did that and now I get the error "Fail to verify EEPROM with the new BIOS image. Please press [FLASH] button to try again or [EXIT] to abort."

Anyone getting this too and perhaps found a way to correct this?

I don't know if this makes a difference, but I'm running on WinME, and when I flashed to 1001.A I was using win98.

I flashed but did it from a CLEAN Win98 boot floppy. I used the Asus latest flash utility that says something about being able to be used with other BIOSs or something. I booted up from a clean floppy, ran the flash program and have flashed the 002 and Beta 003 (last night) BIOSs. One thing to think about is if you get a black screen after, you may need to go into the motherboard and use some type of conductor to jumper the CMOS clear solder locations on the motherboard. There is no jumper there for some unknown reason. Good luck, be careful, the EPROM is soldered on the motherboard and if you blow it, you will have to send the board back for fix.

When I flashed mine I booted from a 98 disk and used the Asus flash DOS util, could never get the Windows update program to work properly. After I updated I rebooted, Got no video, took out CMOS battery and then replaced, rebooted fine after that.

i'm not sure if you guys read the bright red text on ASUS's site, but here it is:

--------------------------------------------

CUSL2 (ATX, 6 PCI, 2 CNR, 2x UDMA/100, 3x DIMM)
Notice:
If you are going to upgrade BIOS from BIOS version 1001.A (and earlier) for CUSL2, please make sure the following item in the BIOS setup menu is set at [PCI/AGP] before updating the BIOS.

Advanced -> PCI Configuration -> VGA BIOS Sequence

In case the system is unable to start up properly after performing BIOS upgrade, please remove all the add-on VGA adapters from the system and start up the system with the onboard AGP graphics controller. The add-on VGA adapters then can be installed after loading the setup default from the BIOS setup menu.
