anyone else having a boring day at work?

my boss is out on paternity leave (is that a thing?), my one in-house coworker is working from home today, I knocked out my weekly duties for my one big on-going project yesterday, and there's jack shit going on otherwise 🙁

I have a couple tickets in my queue, but they're all really small things and I'm trying to make them last all day so that I *really* don't run out of things to do, but meanwhile, I feel guilty surfing the net (and whats more, the WoW forums are down, limiting the net I'd be surfing as it is)

totally turning into one of those stare at the clock all day days. I'd never thought I'd actually hope for a server to suffer a catastrophic failure or something.

I could be building a hyper-v cluster and migrating our testing and development environment (takes up 3 whole standard racks and overflowing into production racks most server sit idle blah blah)... but I brought the idea to management and all I heard were crickets chirping... so here I sit neffing. Just go for a cheap server if you don't have a spare and ask your boss to approve it as a spare in event of failure for parts, or for training/testing. I always have a couple of spares in house here for my sysadmin to test certain things before implementing in production (wish I had some SAN expansion $$ to build a proper dev environment).

Yeah - it's pretty slow here too. I would be annoyed at the database admin for rebooting the server that Oracle runs on without telling anyone before hand but at least it gives me something to do
