Anyone else have this issue Re: Pants fitting

I have big thighs and a big ass, but a rather narrow waste (34 inches). I attribute this mainly to genetics because my dad has the same thing. We carry fat in the lower half of the body, similar to women. Of course, mine is even more accentuated due to squats and other leg exercises.

My biggest issue is that most slacks and jeans for men are designed for a small butt and thin thighs. So, when I pull a pair of pants out with a 34 waste, I get a snug, to almost tight fit around the thighs and ass. It sucks because the constant tightness eventually make my thighs sore. And of course, nothing is worse than pant creases due to stretching. Add on to this that when I tighten my belt, it causes the pant waste to bunch up or fold over itself.

Lately it's gotten worse because I've gained about 10 pounds in the last 3 months (been hitting the weights hard after my kidney surgery and because, I suspect, I'm get older). Will probably need to hit a tailor soon, unless anyone's got a good suggestion for a pants brand.

I have the same problem. My pants have been getting tighter by my thighs as my lifts have gone up (squat from the bar --> 265, deadup up to 325). I just buy looser fits and it has been ok.

yep, I've got massive thighs/ass and a normal-ish waist. They're something like 44"(hips) and 34"(waist) but I've got to buy 36" loose fitting pants to stand a chance of fitting in them. As far as jeans go, I've had good luck with levi 569's but there are others that will fit I just don't like then enough to remember. I've also had people suggest sevens jeans but I've never bothered looking into them. There are options out there that would probably be less expensive than getting all your jeans tailored. As far as dress pants, I rarely wear any but I've got a pair of Dickies and they fit ok from what I remember.

It sounds like you're looking for dress pants, but if you have this issue with jeans I highly suggest the levis 501 shrink to fit (stf). They are amazing.

Levi's 560 is the only jean I can wear, however they are difficult to find and, while good, aren't the same since they went from 7 belt loops to 5. They used to be called "Loose Fit", but now referred to "Comfort Fit".

My biggest issue is dress pants. Slim Fit and Straight Cut are the most prevalent out there. Hard to find a Loose Fit dress pant. Unfortunately, I need dress pants in my work environment.

I have this issue also. My upper legs have always been big and since Ive lost weight it just made the problem worse. I need to wear a 34 but cant seem to find jeans that size that will fit over my legs.

lol i've had the same exact issue with finding jeans and levi's 569's are the best fitting brand, but they are so difficult to find that i had to put them on my xmas list and just make it my wife's problem 🙂

my work pants are all dockers loose fit slacks (note: not khakis). they are especially good because they are non-iron. unfortunately, they do get poofy in the frontal crotch (even the flat front ones).

I've always had this problem and it's just gotten worse over the years...try it with a 30" waist! I happen to like buying clothes and fashion blah blah...all those skinny hipsters are ruining my jeans/pants shopping experiences. I found a pair of 32" summer pants (a light cotton fabric) and just had the waist taken in. Is it perfect? No. But still better everything else I've looked at recently.

Same problem here. I don't carry fat low, but the muscles get rather large from working out, and the average pair of pants aren't made to handle that sort of waist-to-glute&thigh ratio. I also have a similar problem with dress socks + calves.

And the average dress/polo shirt tends to be made for beer bellies. It's like trying to wear an umbrella. I suspect I will actually have to put effort into shopping for clothes from now on, instead of showing up at the mall and grabbing a few decent looking things "in my size (hah)", because I'm getting sick of how sloppy my shirts are looking.

I had to rent a tux for a wedding this summer and I'm dreading how baggy it's going to be.

re: dress shirts

brooks brothers (and others) sell "slim fit" shirts which should help with this problem.
