Anyone else have issues wearing earbuds?

get a different pair. ear buds are great for snowboarding. if you're cheap you can use them while on your motorcycle. at home i prefer headphones. don't be the guy who goes to the gym wearing headphones. that's a little much imho.

No earbuds fit my ears. I can wear in-ear monitors and ear hooks, but no earbuds. I've known this since my friend got his Gameboy with Tetris and stereo earbuds back in 1989. My twin brother is the exact same way. I have tried many times over the years, especially as they gradually replaced headphones, but there are no exceptions: none will stay in, even when sitting down.

I think it's ridiculous that the industry ever thought that they worked well enough for enough people to package them exclusively with nearly every personal audio device since the iPod as opposed to in-ear types. Even Apple's so-called "ear pods" that they released in 2012 fall right out (useless). If they really scanned and tested so many hundreds or thousands of ear shapes then they should know that the number of incompatible ears is too high to justify this when a functional alternative already exists: Why not just make them fit in the ear canal like in-car monitors?!

I wonder if plastic surgery could help with this. Maybe you could get silicone ear extensions.

Not sure about the in-ear type, but typical earbuds are 100% incompatible with my ears. Same thing goes for my twin brother.

Even Apple's re-engineered "EarPods" won't stay in for a moment.

I don't like in-ear stuff. Blocking off your ear canals completely is too much isolation from noise in most cases, and if I'm moving, it's annoying. You can 'feel' your footsteps and whatnot inside your head.

But I can pull them out slightly, and they still stay put. The ones that rest outside your ear canal (no rubber bits) also stay put just fine when working or running or whatever. I think you have weird ears, OP. Or possibly just not getting the earbuds seated at the right angle.

I can't stand them, they don't stay in and/or they hurt my ears (as in, my ears are physically sore after wearing them). Prefer a nice set of headphones.

I /can/ wear them, but only do when I *really* want to hear music, and speakers aren't an option. I don't like anything in, or over my ears, including knit hats.

How you put them in also makes a huge difference. I've used Sony's that I could just put right in, but the MEEeletronic's ones I use require a bit more. Open your mouth and pull down on the bottom of your ear when you put the earphone in.

They easily fall out when pulled. Not sure how anyone can wear them. I am a fan of a headband if I need to walk around with them.

I always had trouble with the old ipod/iphone included earbuds. I have better luck with the ones you shove into your ear canal and have different sized cups.

I'm exactly the opposite. The in-ear stuff hurt my ears no matter what size cup I tried. The sucky part is that pretty much all of the newer ones are like that these days. So I suffered greatly until Apple released the EarPods. Now these are just awesomeness

I don't like ear buds, if I'm going to wear headphones I rather something that covers the whole ear and not goes inside. Even phone head sets, I prefer the ones with the foam pad than the one that goes right in the ear.

If I wear any kind of headphones I prefer the big ass DJ style ones. Though it's extremely rare I wear any. I'm single so I just use speakers. At work, I don't want to put headphones since I wont hear the phone ring.

I had the same issue. Any "normal" buds would always fall out, or it was like my ears would "push" them out.

I've bought the Shure E2 and countless other pairs, including diffferent tips. I literally have a bag of like 10 unused buds and tips. The best I found were some cheap $20 Philips ear clip buds". My favorite ever were some cheap Koss foam buds, but those broke after a couple years.

My wife got these buds called YurBuds and she says they are good. They have a particular type of compound on the outside that clings to skin. Not to expensive either.

I use Sennheiser CX 300-II. It comes with three different size rubber buds:

Used to have some CX-300, but when they failed (can't recall why. probably some wiring issue) upgraded to CX870, which I've now used fairly regularly for three years. A bit pricey though.

I don't know why Apple doesn't include something like this with their earbuds:

It's a clip-on earhook attachment for iPod headphones. They have a version for the old ones and the new EarPods. I just can't bring myself to pay $10 for it when I could just buy better headphones for that price. Now, if it was $0.50, I'd have no problem with that.

Apple earbuds won't stay in my ears. IMHO the MEElectronics are some of the best bang for buck earbuds out there. Sound pretty good, and so cheap it's not a loss if you screw them up or lose them. Good ear fit with the included rubber pads, and the metal ear hook part is adjustable with some memory and some give, so they don't pinch the shit out of your ears.

But I hate them when out running or anything, because of the footsteps and hearing noise around you mentioned above. For outside stuff and running I prefer this type, doesn't sound as good, but stays put and allows you to hear your surroundings.
