With the problems Dino (see his post) had , I`m a little concerned with the power connections on this board. Some people said he could have fried his board if the AUX 12v (flat HD type connector) was used with the 20 pin and 4 pin (square) connectors. The manual shows the AUX 12v 4 pin connector (flat not the square one) , but doesn`t say when to use it. I`ve got a P4S533 on the way and would like to hear from someone who has a 1.6a (or any other) up and running.
Thanks

I'm overclocking a 1.6a Northwood (retail) at 2.4GHZ (150 X 16) with no
problems and stock 1.5 volts. Samsung 512 DDR2700 megs, ASUS P4S533 m.b. CPU is running at 40 c and motherboard is at 29c. Antec SX1040 with 400w p.s. Using thermal pad and stock Intel fan.

I connected the atx power supply plug, just like any other atx motherboard, I then connected the aux power supply plug (like the kind that plug into the hard drives with the rounded edges), then finally I connected a small square looking plug into the motherboard as well.

My computer is still running strong at 2.4 GHZ with no problems at all. I might look for a different fan with Artic Silver 3.

I haven't checked the temp after running some flight sims to see how much it will rise. If it rises to much, I will drop back down to 2.2GHZ (140 X 16).

Thanks Rojas,
You used all three connectors, I`ll try that too.
What is the PCI /AGP speed at FSB 150, what PCI divider ratio are you using?

I am building the Asus P4S533, 1.6A for a someone, The IDE is for use if you don't have a P4 power supply, I wouldn't use both, If you have a P4 power supply use that to power the board if not use the 12 volt off the IDE, As for me I stick with AMD

Thugsrook's 1.6A runs @166FSB without the auxiliary connector plugged in. This is not the reason your machine is working well.
But there IS an issue with that P4PSU auxiliary supply as to when it should be used since manuals just say "optional" (like my P4T-E) and go away....Maybe Andy Hui could give us a little help....

Good on you Bozo!! Thanx for the knowledge-I might didn't have it plugged in-phew!- but I wanted to know what's up with it (as always ;) )Thanx a lot!
P.S: And here is the exact abstract from the review for those who are bored to..... surf!
"Asus' EZ Plug is a VERY nice addition to the motherboard, I think every P4 motherboard should have one of these. Basically what it does is it replaces the special 12V connector for which all P4 motherboards have and require in order for the computer to be running properly. The board sports both plugs, the old 12V plug and the EZ Plug, now you can have a P4 setup without changing your power supply also, a very very convenient and nice add-on." (From the P4S533 review @subzerotech.com)

Thanks for clearing this up, either one connector or the other, not both.

Please though someone clue me in on the PCI divider settings on this board and is the +.2 volts option enough of a voltage increase for O/Cing a P4.

I'm running w/o the AUX 12v plug in (2 plugs not three).
1.6a (3/19/02 Costa Rica lot) OC'd and very stable at 133 to 2132
CPU Temp stays solid at 34.

-- I've pushed it to 2570 but it won't last as I can't go much above 37Mhz for the PCI bus due to an old Matrox Mill II video card... just wait till I get my 8500 AIW 128 ;-)

I'm using 1 512Meg of REAL Samsung PC2700 memory.

how 'bout every board has only the ATX and the EZ-Plug only, so there is no need to buy special kind PSU for Pentium .
