first i want to say the 3d capability is another annoying fad that will probably result in tons of hardware failures
When has Nintendo ever had "tons of hardware failures"?

second, the 3.5" screen is a joke.. the psp has a 4.3" and the 3ds should have a 5.0" even if it means it's a little bigger

lastly there is ONE analog.. epic fail from sony in the ctrls dept and now from nintendo
Irrelevant, as the DS was never intended to out spec the PSP.
parents don't care about quality
Contradicts everything else you said.

OP being banned or not, there is some criticism of the Nintendo 3DS but it seems like most of the press and people who have demoed it like it. Fanboys aside, it seems like it's only those with a vested interest in seeing Nintendo fail that is skeptical of it. In fact, I've read quite a few "previews" from the press who have tried it and said it adds a better sense of depth to games like Starfox when they played it.

As for having better specs than the PSP, as someone who have played with a PSP (bro has one), it is an impressive system. I can say that the PSP reached close to the point of diminishing returns. It is a powerful enough system that improvements in the graphics won't be very noticeable. If the 3DS is roughly PSP in graphics, or even better as some of the rumors have reported, then it'll also be at that threshold. I think Sony has a ton of work cut out for it if it wants the next iteration of the PSP to succeed. Simply adding an accelerometer (Dual Shock 3 controller) and boosting CPU and GPU power will not work.

The flaw with the PSP has always been that developers didn't develop enough true portable games and instead ported console games to the PSP. One of the greatest pluses and probably the primary reason for the Gameboy's success (regardless of version) might be that developers made actual portable games. And by portable games I mean those games that actually keep in mind the hand held nature of the console and that people might play in spurts of 15 minutes to half an hour on bus or train rides on top of kids playing it. Sure, some have longer commutes of a couple hours or maybe some people might sit down on the couch for a 3 hour PSP/GB session but a ton of the customer base plays in spurts.
