anyone else hate those Truth commercials?

is there seriously anyone left on the planet who doesn't know that smoking is bad for you and what the potential consequences could be?

seems like they've been running non-stop on tv all day.

everyone I know that smokes cigarettes smokes regardless... it's not that they don't know, they just don't care (or come up with some convoluted self-justification)

What those 'truth' assholes won't tell you is that a study was done in the UK to see how much smokers cost their universal health care, and the conclusion was that smokers on average cost less because they pay extraordinarily high taxes and die decades sooner than non-smokers. My non-smoking grandma is 89 and spends half of her time in the hospital, so how much does that cost? You could say smokers are foolish just as easily as you could say they sacrifice themselves to fund national health care in Canada and UK.

I hate those commercials because they depict all smokers as slaves to some evil drug baron running the tobacco companies. What they never show is how some people actually like smoking. Ever since I started taking Wellbutrin, I absolutely love smoking small cigars. If the balance of chemicals in your brain is just right, smoking is a lot of fun, and it can have a dramatic, positive effect on behavior.
If the balance in of chemicals in one's brain is totally fucked, they turn into this.

obviously there must be if millions of people still smoke them - or maybe they just don't care that they're killing themselves?

The commercials are a complete waste of time and money. Everytime one comes on, I feel an urge to smash my face into a concrete wall. Who knows- perhaps that's what they are aiming for??

Those specific commercial are useless for adults IMO, but for young kids they could serve as a nice warning. Most of my knowledge of the negative effects of smoking (before we covered it in 6th grade) came from similar commercials and PBS programs.

Its Rob Riener, a fat ass idiot that is on a crusade to ban smoking.

not seeing those commercials was almost worth giving up Star
Trek for.

i gave up Star Trek when it became 8 minutes of show, 4 minutes of
commercials, etc. they might as well just have an advertising channel
with text messaging telling the Star Trek plot. with the occasional
7 of 9 cameo.

Maybe I have a unique spin on this, but I absolutely love the fact that everyone seems to hate them. That means they are getting noticed, and you'll see that a lot of people will just complain about the commercial and not the fact that smoking is quite possibly one of the most disgusting things someone could do to not just themselves, but everyone around them. You see, I'm actually allergic to tobacco (or perhaps some of the chemicals used to produce cigars/cigs) and I need a fast acting inhaler after exposure (doesn't really take a whole lot, riding in a car with a smoker or sitting a few booths from one at a bar/restaurant. I'm not the only one either. I don't care what you do in the privacy of your home, but in public its pretty thoughtless.
