Anyone else hate the "Tab" feature in Firefox...

Tabbed browsing is the #1 reason I use firefox. Fire up ATOT, browse the first page and middle click on like 6 threads, they all load as I read the first one.

Let me guess a few things about the OP
1. aol is your favorite ISP.
2. You use windows "ME."
3. You have a 19inch or bigger monitor but run it at 800x600 or less.

quick way to close with the mouse? Right lick and choose CLose. Is or click the X on the right side to close the current on.

Just gotta also go get the Tabbrowser Prefernces to get some added functinoality.

I would love to have tabs in the Hiptop web browser where pages take a long time to load and you can't actually have multiple "windows."

For normal use, I don't really see any benefit to them, so I don't use them.

you open multiple FFs and your memory will dwindle to nothing. It already had memory problems as it was...

i don't really like the tabs personally. i guess its just cause im not used to them.

but i dont use firefox cause it is so damn slow. IE opens up so much quicker and is just all around faster.

i would use IE any day over firefox, and I do on a daily basis. at most, i'll have like 3 browser windows open typically.

Try Opera. It starts much quicker than FF under Windows environment.

Browser speed comparisons

OP - explain to me why you would rather have a multitude of separate windows open rather than all your webpages consolidated in your browser?

Do you not like Excel, either? Or NoteTab? Tabbing is a prominent interface style in programs and operating systems alike, just take a look at dialog boxes - most of them are arranged in tabs.

The only possible explanation I could see is that tabs, in Firefox at least, cannot be arranged in tiles, horizontally, or vertically like separate windows, but a browser with tabs is still capable of being opened in separate instances.

I think I'm the first person to be posting in this thread agreeing with you.

I prefer new windows and to have all of them on the taskbar. I have a wide monitor so real estate is no problem, and I like being able to alt-tab through my windows plus other apps. Tabs are useless to me.

IE will always open faster than anything, it's integrated into windows. Actual browsing will be faster on Opera. Running multiple windows instead of multiple tabs sucks up more memory, and taskbar space.

Tabs aren't even the reason I use Opera, it has a lot more going for it than something that simple.
