Professionally, more than 6 or 7 people while I'm giving a presentation and I'm nervous as all hell. Fewer and I have no problems.
Personal, in large groups I'm more quiet since there's too much going on most of the time for me to get a word in. Otherwise I'm a regular chatterbox.
Sort of, mostly with new people though. Most of the time (well, half of the time) I can chat it up pretty well with someone I just met. Throw me into a group of strangers and I usually end up silent, despite my best efforts.
You are good with one on one conversation because you pick up on clues when it is your turn to speak. You are a very passive person.
In a group you have to speak and if somebody else starts to speak while you are talking you have to give them body language clues that it is NOT their turn to speak. Finish your point and then ALLOW them to speak. If they interrupt you simply hold up your hand and say "I'm not quite done." Finish with a sentence or two.
I always like to throw in a lord of the flys reference by saying "HEY! I have the conch, let me finish and you can have it next" You make your point, you say your word and then you pass the conch and sit and listen.
