Anyone else getting random crashes in NFS Hot Purshit 2 demo?

Hi all,

My system is rock solid in UT2K3, but just tonight I started playing (or trying to) the NFS HS 2 demo. First off, either I'm not remembering right or the graphics in NFS PU were better:Q

But anyway, I'm getting random crashes anywhere from 1/4 way through the 1st lap or half way through the 2nd lap. I have yet to finish a race because of this. The crash is a hard lock and I have to hit the reset button to get out of it. I've tried taking the overclock off my Radeon 8500LE, but that doesn't help. Like I said, it's rock solid in UT2K3. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Christian

No probs here played it about half an hour on a Ti4200@Ti4600. Kinda of a lame demo, just one track and 2 cars come on, and yah I hope the real thing is a more impressive graphically and gameplay wise.

Looks pretty nice to me. I'm running it at 1280x960 w/4xaa. The scenery is less than impressive, but the car models are great.

Yah, strangely 1280x1024 looked a lot better than 1024x768. Haven't tried AA yet.

Vad and Swan hate to break the news to you but I think its a bug with ATI cards. I to hard lock but on the first lap in about the same spot. All 3 of us have Radeon 8500's. The ones here who can play it fine run a Nvidia card. Also my friend runs a GF2MX and he said his runs fine.

My question is, is how are you all changing the resolution? I can change it in the options but the screen doesnt change to the res.

Tried it on my wife's system which has a Radeon 64mb VIVO and P3-933 ran fine through a few races so may be 8500 specific.

With my Radeon the desktop flashes through the game a little bit. Very annoying.

Another Radeon 8500LE user with random crash. Checked the rage3d forums, turn down the video setting a notch (especiall Special effects, always lock up while having max special effect) and no more crashes.

The special effect in the video setting. I turned down a notch from max and no more crashes.
