It's pretty crazy to see for sure. Never in my life have I ever seen a completely empty grocery store shelving section from one end to the other or even lot of empty sections, outside of renovation related work or if they are moving stuff etc. It's just such an odd thing to see, and is a quick reminder of how fragile our way of living is as we rely so much on things that are out of our control. It almost gives you a feeling of vulnerability knowing there's certain things you can't just easily do yourself, like make toilet paper or certain foods, if you're not properly setup/prepared.
Food wise we are ok here so far, grocery stores are still getting food stock regularly, and most take out places are open. You can't be picky but there is still plenty of food.
But lot of certain products are impossible to get, such as TP and I won't even bother trying to find masks or anything sanitation related but I don't really need any right now. If I do find masks I'll buy a bunch just so I can donate to the hospital, they probably need them. But I'm not going out unless I have to so it's more of a thing I check while I'm already there.
On one hand I don't want to order take out as it comes with a small risk, on the other hand I want to take advantage of it while it's available, so I can save the food I already have here.
I'm not sure if Home Depot is considered essential or not but I may do a trip if it's still open, I want to get stuff to grow vegetables. I hope they'll have top soil indoors as the garden centre is not opening any time soon.
Right now the food situation is ok at the grocery stores but I should probably prepare for it to get like the toilet paper situation.
