Anyone else getting a 3850?

I was thinking about it, but I think I'm going to sit on my cash until the new 8800GTS's come out. I'll choose at that point. I'm also interested to see how the 256MB 8800GT's stack up against the other new bang-for-your-buck vid cards.

I am at the exact same boat as Rike...
When I see the pricing and performance on the new GTS and the 256MB GT I will either order a 3850, a 256MB GT, or if the GTS is a LOT of bang for the buck then it... but most likely I will just be buying a 3850... It has attractive enough performance and at 170$ the price is ideal.

Assuming the price of it will drop slightly when the 8800gt 256 mb comes out, yes I'll probably get a 3850 seeing as how it will do what I need it to do at a cheaper price.

I don't need the higher performance of the 8800 gt and would rather save some cash.

I don't even NEED a computer... I WANT one though... heck I want 8800ultra in sli... I even have the money to buy it (as in, money in my bank, not to mean that I am rich)... I just think it will be a colossal waste of my money.

I have been thinking of a 512mb version also. Been tempted to get the 256mb version as the 3870 is already mia, but will give it a few more days for stock to arrive.

256mb version seems ok unless you have a 24" monitor. i suppose it might matter more in higher games.... im not in a rush (my 8600gt will hold me together for a while) but if there were a hot deal for the 3850 for say $150 or say one with some free game (like the valve black box deal the 2600xts had) i'd probably do it.

Have you tried crysis with the new xfire update yet?

I'm going to wait for a 512MB 3850 I believe. Then again, I'm not so sure. The AA performance is still terrible...

I just picked up a HIS 3850, because the Power Color one was sold out. I also grabbed a S939 4200+ X2 as well while I was at it. Probably wasn't the greatest impulse buy, but at least now I will be able to play all of the games I want to play at pretty high settings/resolutions.

Ok, my patience is wearing out. Will I kick myself, if I don't wait for the 3870 to come back in stock? Also would a 3850 make a noticeable improvement over an x1900gt on a crap cpu?

1680 x 1050. Cpu will soon be improved, just waiting for the moment, but currently have an athlon 3700 single core.

I'd wait a few more days for 3870, unless you can get a good deal on one of the 512mb 3850's. that powercolor 3850 is clocked at 720/900 and has 512mb of ram, you should be able to easily get 3870 or greater performance out of it.
