Anyone else get wierd looks when showing their ID?

I don't have a license right now so I currently use my passport as my photo ID. About 99% of the people I show my ID to have no idea what a passport is. Anyone else have this problem?

The last guy to check my ID looked at my passport and said "So you're in the army?"
 
I've never used my passport other than an international vacation but I bet you could fake a passport and many people wouldn't know if it was real or fake.
 
I got my military ID from a reserve wing's MPF, so the picture was taken in civilian clothing. The active duty MPFs insist that you be in uniform. I was wearing a red polo shirt and hadn't shaved for 3 days when the pic was taken, got strange looks every time I go through the gate.
 
My picture was taken when I was in the Navy, and I look quite different now. I'm surprised I haven't gotten any comments about it.
 
I use my passport at domestic airports whenever I fly. AZ has thirty year drivers' licenses that wear out after two.

I've heard it from multiple persons and never looked into it since I had heard it from multiple residents.

I was wrong and assumed that what other state residents had told me was factual. This was already proven incorrect in some of the above posts.
 
I get odd looks because my license photo is several years old, from when I had a full beard and hair down to my belt. I was also wearing a black shirt that day, so you basically see a face floating in the middle of the frame.
 
I usually just use my DL, even when I had a military ID. I should use my Illinois FOID (firearm owner's ID) card.

If I remember correctly, there was a thread a back a ways in which he was implicated in a slaying in which he dressed up like a clown and used a hatchet to murder those that he deemed socially irresponsible.
