A LONG time ago I signed up for some free mag subscriptions through some hot deal I found and one of them apparently went out of business. I just assumed when I stopped getting them that the free subscription period had ended, no big deal.

Well out of the blue, last week I got a Maxim magazine delivered to the house with a cover on it stating it was a replacement to a magazine that went out of business.

My wife is usually the one to get the mail every day and wasn't very thrilled about it :p

Really she couldn't care less as the magazine is pretty PG, but still funny nonetheless.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Nope. You unique on this one.

Since you get Maxim, make her happy and get her a subscription of "Inches"

Why would she care? Mine sometimes reads my Playboys which I've subscribed to for years.

Guess you didn't read the whole post?

I said it in jest.

She wouldn't be thrilled with me paying for something like maxim or playboy but isn't bothered by me reading them either.

I remember way back, when I was expecting to get another issue of Omni, and Discover came in with that replacement sticker :(

I know you were somewhat jesting. But why couldn't you pay either? Maxim's like $10-12 a year.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Your woman would be cool with it, mine wouldn't be thrilled about it but also wouldn't get overly worked up about it either.

When we started dating I had a subscription to Maxim and Playboy and she didn't care, but when the subscriptions ran out I didn't renew them and we never discussed it.

I just feel like it'd be the more sensitive thing to do to not blatantly look at half or fully naked women while married, just my personal preference and not a reflection on what I think anyone else should do.

My son had a free subscription to Blender and it was changed to Maxim. Blender tossed in the towel.

yup happened to me and wife didnt like it.

My EGM gaming magazine was discontinued and replaced with Maxim for the remainder of the subscription. I think this is the case with any Ziff Davis publications.

That's the one it was. Is it sad that I'd rather still rather have EGM over Maxim?

Not really, Maxim is pretty boring

It's pretty tame stuff, and I usually just glance at the pics but mostly read it for the features on cars, games etc. I'm not sure what the thought process would be for someone who's bothered by that (latent insecurity maybe?). Cosmo among many other women's mags talk about much racier stuff, not to mention "romance novels" (i.e. soft core).

Oh well, doesn't matter to me what others read (or not).
