90% of my meals are eaten alone ever since I was a kid. Boredom while eating alone has never been an issue. Being bored in general, yes.

I am sometimes too lazy to prepare food though.

I ate dinner by myself tonight at a restaurant... no one cares in a big city. A lot of people do it
If it was in a small city, I would've looked like a loser

I think you have that covered regardless of where you are or what you are doing ;)

I love eating alone. I'm divorced, and my ex-husband was a real idiot at mealtimes - loud talk on his cellphone, complaining about the food, bitching about his problems, in a restaurant he would harass the staff, he's one of those people who loves to create a big scene. Plus he doesn't believe in tipping. And then at the end he would tell me how much better than me his girlfriends were in bed.

Yes, I love eating alone.

I dont mind eating alone but I do tend to get bored unless I am reading something. I read the paper in the morning, and then news online or on tv at lunch and hopefully I'm at home to talk to my wife for dinner. I think that if I dont have something to read or watch while I'm eating that I end up eating faster and probably more.

In this media driven society, it's not really a surprize that you get bored. I find that eating alone finally gives me quality time to spend with the voices in my head. I think everyone should spend some time with the voices in their head. At least then you can ignore when you are with people!

I usually listen to music if I'm alone. Not some violin concerto but like timbaland or something. Try that :)

You gotta ask? He was good in the sack, how was I supposed to know he'd get bored after a while. And when he was dating he was on his good behavior. It wasn't all horrible, just got awful as time went by.

For most of us, eating is an activity which doesn't require the use of our full mental prowess. ;)

Aw, but those voices are fun when I'm around people - the voices are always busy making fun of everyone else, so I get realtime entertainment. :D

Nah, 'cause then you don't have to worry about people saying, "Don't use your booger-ridden fingers for that!" or "Stop eating like an uncouth boar!"

Ahh such fond memories of my yesteryear :).

I don't mind. I eat while watching highlights or news on TV. When my wife is around, we don't even sit at the table to eat anymore... we just watch TV and might have a little nap afterwards if we're not busy...

I guess if it was completely quiet and you were alone, listening to yourself chew and staring at your food would get pretty boring.

I kinda like eating alone. In a busy place, it's fun to space out, think, people watch, etc.

Every once in a while I turn down the usual lunch crowd and just go solo.

My fiancée is in another state, but I have a few thousand books waiting to be read, so I just take one to the restaurant with me.

One time I did this and the waitress made sure to seat me next to a woman who was also eating alone and reading a book. Even if I were not engaged, it would never have worked. She was reading John Grisham, and I was reading David Weber. :p

On the contrary, I can't stand eating with others. When eating around other people, I actually have to mind my table manners, taking away a lot of freedom. Also, I just want to shut up and eat, not talk about whatever garbage someone can think up.

However, I'm a bit aprehensive about eating alone in restaurants. If I do, I usually get a window seat and listen in on weird conversations going on around me...
