I have a penis, so no, I've never owned a cat.

wow that was lame. choice of pet is not gender or even race specific. that or your not very confident with your sexuality. Your penis is for reproduction, not for choosing your petD:

If I ever did rent to somebody with a cat I would want proof from a vet that the cat was fixed first. Male cats are complete assholes and spray everywhere.

The landlord who doesn't allow cats.

The problem with cats isn't the cat, it's the owner. A properly trained and cared for cat is far cleaner than a dog.

Opinions are like assholes... 🙂

That said, I agree, 90% of problem animals stem from their owners. On the other hand, given an occasional "accident" here and there, I'd far rather clean up after a dog. The effects aren't nearly as long lasting.

A cat trained to use the litter box is so much cleaner and does less destruction if you have a scratching pad then dogs ever will be.

Not to mention dogs will piss in the house if you don't let them out in time so the litter box works for cats if you even have to be out of the house for more then a few hours with some dogs.

^^^ truth.

I was just out of town for 5 days and my mom came by my place once a day to change the food and water etc.

Came home, all is normal.

Good luck doing that with a dog.

If I were a landlord I wouldn't assume everyone has properly trained their cats. I would assume the opposite, and therefore not allow cats. Or any other animals. Weird that they allow dogs but not cats.

Not at all. I hate hate hate cats. In college, two of my roommates had cats (1 each) for a bit before they were 'caught' (thank God) by management, and my lord did that fuel my rage for the felines. They scratched up EVERYTHING and would always be on top of counters, run into my room and hide underneath my bed, etc.

Only good thing about cats is that they learn how to use the litter box quickly. Other than that, they have no point of existing. Maybe to kill mice.

You also have to remember that many places that say this or say no pets is not enforceable so in many cases you can ignore it.

It just depends on the animal and the owner. My cat has never done anything bad in my house. Where my roommates dogs have pissed and shit many times. Though it got much better a couple months after they moved in.

But then again I know someone who has a couple cats, and her room smells horrid.

It's especially funny coming from loki, considering how he chooses to use his penis... 😛

I'm glad it wasn't just me who thought such things...😛

One other thing that hasn't been mentioned is that there are many people who are allergic to cats...cleaning up the allergens isn't always as easy as shampooing the carpets...

Our cat has thrown up a time or two. I clean it up, use carpet cleaner on it, impossible to tell it was ever there. Couldn't even tell we own a cat except for the litter boxes, scratching posts and she does shed a decent amount. Doesn't matter since I own my home and can do whatever I want.

If I ever am a landlord, there's no way in fucking hell I'd ever let cats in my property. I'd let dogs in in a heartbeat though.

I am a landlord, and this is my policy. While both can cause damage, cat piss is almost impossible to get rid of. Learned that lesson the hard way.....

Last time I had to clean up/refurbish after a cat, it involved ripping out the carpets and sanding/refinishing the subfloor, then putting down new carpet to get the stank out.

Last time I had to clean up/refurbish after a dog, it involved getting the carpets shampooed.

So tell me, which one is more bullshit?

So you had a cat owner who didn't provide or clean the litter box.

I assure you if a dog owner didn't bother taking the dog outside it would be much worse.

Humans are the problem in either case.

Cats are filthy dirty creatures their urine smell badly they fight and carry disease. I'm not surprised that people won't let them in to apartments.

So dirty that they spend half the day cleaning and grooming themselves and you don't even need to train them to not piss and shit everywhere.

Or they owned a cat that marked😛

Either case getting the pet owner to be responsible for all cleanup costs is probably not worth the effort. so you get these policies
