Anyone else find it impossible to swim?

I'm 135lb, 5'5", Chinese, in shape, wear size 29-30 pants, and definitely not even chubby. I'm not very skinny either.

I'm 20 now and I just can't swim. I've tried for years with no success, and I think the reason is because my body is too dense compared to the water.

Most people can tread water effortlessly or float with no problem. I just sink.

Even with lungs full of air, if I just go motionless in the water my body will sink effortlessly - and very quickly to boot - all the way to the bottom. Most of my friends have to actively swim DOWNWARDS just to keep up with my sinking speed... I've been in 20ft deep pools and I have no problem sinking right to the bottom without slowing down.

I'm thinking it's hard for me to swim because I have to expend considerably more effort than other people just to stay afloat... which results in me getting tired too easily, too tired to keep on swimming. Even if I lay on my back I have to move quite a bit just to keep my head above the water.

Discuss.

Nope, I did a season of swim team in school.

I never figured a trout would have problems swimming. You may have iron saturated blood, and mercury in your flesh. Probably prone to sinking.

I took something like 5 years of swimming lessons, still can't swim. I am overweight, but I wasn't so much at the time. The lifeguards still say that they've never seen anyone sink so quickly.

Lifeguards said the same thing to me. I had a friend who was a lifeguard, gave swimming lessons to a lot of people, and at the end he was just like, "I don't know dude, I've never seen anyone like you..."

According to the Body Tracker...your borderline Average/Overweight.

I dont know maybe your not human.I have no problem swimming(and fast)and I'm Chinese 5'9 140lbs.

Some people aren't good with eyes hands coordination, and then there is the drowning factor that prohibits many from swimming.

My gf is 5'0" @ 120 lbs that can't swim because she have drowning fears & I been swiming like a fish since I was 4 years old I'm now 5'11" @ 180 lbs.

At least it means you're probably not a witch.

BEDEMIR: Quiet, quiet. Quiet! There are ways of telling whether
she is a witch.
CROWD: Are there? What are they?
BEDEMIR: Tell me, what do you do with witches?
VILLAGER #2: Burn!
CROWD: Burn, burn them up!
BEDEMIR: And what do you burn apart from witches?
VILLAGER #1: More witches!
VILLAGER #2: Wood!
BEDEMIR: So, why do witches burn?
[pause]
VILLAGER #3: B--... 'cause they're made of wood...?
BEDEMIR: Good!
CROWD: Oh yeah, yeah...
BEDEMIR: So, how do we tell whether she is made of wood?
VILLAGER #1: Build a bridge out of her.
BEDEMIR: Aah, but can you not also build bridges out of stone?
VILLAGER #2: Oh, yeah.
BEDEMIR: Does wood sink in water?
VILLAGER #1: No, no.
VILLAGER #2: It floats! It floats!
VILLAGER #1: Throw her into the pond!
CROWD: The pond!
BEDEMIR: What also floats in water?
VILLAGER #1: Bread!
VILLAGER #2: Apples!
VILLAGER #3: Very small rocks!
VILLAGER #1: Cider!
VILLAGER #2: Great gravy!
VILLAGER #1: Cherries!
VILLAGER #2: Mud!
VILLAGER #3: Churches -- churches!
VILLAGER #2: Lead -- lead!
ARTHUR: A duck.
CROWD: Oooh.
BEDEMIR: Exactly! So, logically...,
VILLAGER #1: If... she.. weighs the same as a duck, she's made of wood.
BEDEMIR: And therefore--?
VILLAGER #1: A witch!

A lot of people I know have commented on my weight+height... they don't understand how I'm 135lb and yet only 5'5" and have a waist comparable to most girls... (my pant size is 29-30). I assure you that I'm not overweight... maybe I have really dense bones? I've never broken a bone in my life, despite some really nasty crashes in my time.

*shrugs* I personally have no drowning fears. I'm usually even the first one to dive in the water, despite the fact that I can't swim... 😕
