anyone else feel funny taking a shower in gyms?

You guys are lucky to have gyms showers that have curtains, stalls, or anything else with some sort of privacy. Mine is just a room with heads on the walls, or another gym that has a center pillar in middle of the room, and shower heads around the pillar.

Anyways, i don't take showers at the gym... it has nothing to do with modesty, just i don't want athletes foot or the inconvenience of carrying all that crap. I go to the gym with my keys and wallet, and that's it.

I'll never forget my first day on the job at my present employer 16 years ago. It's a very filthy place to work and it was common for everyone to shower.

A naked guy walked up to me and stuck out his hand and said, "Welcome to The Forge my name is Bob they call me Santa Claus." And, there he was, the guy who was Santa Claus in the Hudson's Thanksgiving Day parade and as I was shaking a naked Santa Claus's hand a feeling of other worldliness kinda flowed over me.


BTW-this guy was, "spooky real looking," as my wife said, when she came back from taking the kids to see him the first year.

Um... I guess I'm there to take a shower and not browse others' packages. Maybe that's the part that's bothering you so much.

Try this: take off your clothes, take your shower, dry off, dress, and then leave. Skip the part where you stare at other men's "dongs" and see if that doesn't make the experience a little more confortable for you.

Well, the reason I don't shower at my gym (well not anymore) is like someone mentioned here...I don't wanna get athletes foot or any kinda disease like that...

The one and only time I showered at my gym...I managed to somehow collect a whole bunch of hair (I'm guessing from people's head...and other regions) on my walk from the shower to the locker...grossed me right out and I vowed never to shower there again...

Man, this thread is ridiculous, I can't believe how many of you don't shower at the gym for stupid reasons. The athlete's foot excuse is BS, just use a pair of flip-flops; I always have and I never got athlete's foot. Mostly, I'm not a big fan of stinking my car up with BO, also sometimes I need to go somewhere straight from the gym and I'd much rather do that after a shower.

Which is one of the benefits of going to a gym that's literally 2 mins from where i live. Why carry all that sh1t just to shower there when i can do it at home?

This is one of those things that should have resolved after going through middle school. I didn't realize how young some of you guys are.

Just treat it like you're going to a public restroom stall to pee. Same rule applies. You do your business and leave. Less talk is recommended. You do not stare "down there". You do not go next to an already occupied stall if another open stall further away is available.
