I just read a review about Reign of Fire in the Denver Post by Roger Ebert. He Bashed it hard! But then again Ebert hates all sci-fi movies. I take what he says with a grain of salt. However he does include some spoilers in his review and i have no desire to see it.

Well, it's like this. See, there's this movie out now, and it's about Fire-breathing helldamnass dragons versus tanks, motorcycles, and Apache attack helicopters in a post apocolyptic wasteland.

Hells yea I'm gonna see it.

Ebert hates bad sci-fi movies. He's been endlessly gushing about Minority Report. He rated The Phantom Menace highly based on its visuals (and curiously docked Attack of the Clones for the same). Dark City was one of his top films the year it was released.

I've seen Reign of Fire and it pretty much deserved the beating the E gave it.

They then devise a plot to kill all the dragons. Sounds like a combination of Starship Troopers and Battlefield Earth...and we all know how good those movies were :(
Don't forget Day of the Dead where all that is left are small pockets of humans and zombies have taken over the world

Or Alien/Aliens/Aliens3 etc .. not that it was on earth .. but same kind of deal .. small pocket of humans wins in huge odds against a really scary otherworldly foe .. same old tired themes.

The Dragons looked cool in the TV previews but didnt they use the same "basic Dragon" before in a flic???

Thinking about maybe the one with the voice of Sean Connery that had one of the Quaid brothers in it (Dragon Heart?) or the one where the girl was masquerading as a boy so as not to be sacrificed. Cant remember that name.

The best animated draon was the one with the voice of Richard Boone (Palladin) in an early attempt at making a "Lord of the Rings" episode.

DAMN RIGHT! This is a total guy movie.

Also, from what I've heard, if you adore movies such as Pitch Black then you will love this flick...and I love Pitch Black and B movies such as that.

I was excited when I first saw that it was a movie about dragons (and yeah it did look like Pitch Black kinda which I LOVED)

But I don't know how much I like the idea of combining dragons with modern day combat..... blah but we'll see maybe its good.

Do NOT for ONE moment begin to diss Aliens! That movie kicked some serious a$$! In no small part due to the comic stylings of Bill Paxson.

Decent movie........crappy ending. Why do they have to ruin decent movies with such happy bullsh*t endings?

I will probably wait for the dvd, unless I start hearing some really good things about it. The plot (that I get from the trailer) isn't interesting: some time in future, there be dragons, and they don't like humans.

that's what i got from the tv previews.....i geuss i'll just wait for some idiot to divx it and then watch it

My sister just saw it an hour ago. She said it was ok, but it was too short.

I think this is a good line from rotten if you want to enjoy the movie:

"Reign of Fire looks as if it was made without much thought -- and is best watched that way.""

I wasn't able to get out to see it tonight :( But I will see a matinee tomorrow...be cheaper anyway.

I am not going in expecting some sci-fi masterpiece, I am just expecting a fun, partially-mindless action flick. Like someone said above...guns and dragons? How can a guy NOT like this movie? ;)

I downloaded and watched it last night.

It was an alright movie, but definately not worth the cost of a movie ticket.

At most I would say it would be a rental.

How dare you lump Starship Troopers with that . . . that . . . thing. If you did not like Starship Troopers you either have no sense of humor or dumb as a bug. And that's a fact :D
