Anyone else excited about the new C7 Corvette?

The current styling is getting long in the tooth and I'm really looking forward to what GM does with the new Vette. If it looks anything like the rendering video below, I'd be pretty dang happy.

Ferrari called, they want their 612 Scaglietti back.

Oh, and is the interior still going to be off a 2005 GM rental car?

Its not bad but I was expecting more. Really the whole thing just looks like a body kit for the C6 Vette, which is a bit of a shame after they made so much fuss about a big restyle. Odd both them and Viper went with an elongated side profile in the window/duct shape. Not sure that I'm crazy about either, they're not awful but they're not that great either. Here it messes with the proportions too much. Makes the back of the car seem a lot bigger. I also wish Chevy would do something about the back end, its so squared off and I've felt just has gotten worse and worse since the C4.

Speaking of that, why don't they just integrate that lip spoiler into the whole end cap instead of making it look like some crappy plastic piece you bought at Pep Boys?

That side vent reminds me of the GT-R, which isn't a positive thing. Hate the hood vent nostrils.

Looks like we're getting more of the same, which isn't terrible, especially at $50,000, but it doesn't really do much to improve the Vette's cachet (hopefully the interior actually lives up to their change hype though), which is what I thought they were aiming to do like they did with Cadillac.

Unless the B pillar looks like the C4, C5, and C6 ones, it won't look like a Corvette. The render looks like a Ferrari crossed with a GT-R

The back has now become more flat and slab sided. The rectangular lights and detailing doesn't help make the back look any less awkward or bulbous. If the 350Z had the big back end problem, the Corvette has it on an even worse scale with that design.

Also, what is wrong with the glass behind the B pillar? Why does the side glass go halfway back towards the rear windshield and then abruptly cut back? I see this now on so many different cars trying to add some visual excitement to the design, but it is A) played out like Altezza tailights and B) completely wrong for the Corvette. It had better change to be a wrap-around rear windshield, otherwise, it just looks wrong.

The 350Z had a small back problem. The overhang was too short because the rear wheels were, for no apparent reason, placed really far back considering it had no rear seats. And then to make it worse it was rounded and droopy. It kind of looks like a dog with its tail cropped

The c6 doesn't particularly interest me, but I do respect it. Be more interested in the c7 when some real details come out. I expect it to be very good though.

damn that back glass is gonna be a pain to tint..

The C6 is going to be remembered as a very good vette. Really makes the C5 seem clumsy and the C4 seem archaic. The base C6s that I was looking at earlier this year were all surprisingly good. Even the high miles ones. Drove one with 120k miles and it still felt tight inside. Granted the guy was a hwy warrior who changed his oil with royal purple but the rest of the car still felt fresh. Ever driven a high miles C4? The horror...

Looks wise its not too bad. Evolutionary really. Sure it looks a little like a astonmaseratiferrarri love child. Glad they kept the visual cues in the rear thought its too pronounced. I would have curved it a little more if I was an armchair designer.

What would have really been amazing was going to a highly stylized modern version of the first gen.

aerodynamic principles are pretty constant, all high end cars will look similar(though I hear the deltawing was badass and worked well)

nice to see it doesnt look like a dressed up C6, which looks like a dressed up c5(which is fine, I think the C5 was sex, especially after dealing with C4s for so long)

One of the BEST if not THE best sports cars ever produced on this planet?

You damn right I'm excited!!!

Unfortunately our source sucks and I will wait until I see something from GM.

PS. There will be a LONG line of people waiting to purchase a used C6 (including me).

Dash Stroker.

The C5 and C6 have much worse interiors than the C4 did. I'm talking about appearance not how they feel. The thing is, GM knows how to design interiors. But for the Corvette they just slap together some organic looking fish interior. The worst is the steering wheel that looks like the Pillsbury Dough Boy

Edit: Heh, I'm not the only one who thinks it looks like that http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-tech-performance/1329236-pillsbury-doughboy-steering-wheel.html

yeah i certainly am cause that means the C6 will become more cost effective!

430hp ain't gonna cut it. Hopefully the base C7 will be more around 500hp.

Base C6 can be had for mid 20s. A&A vortech or something similar installed for 10k with needed mods.

Base C6 just out of warranty gives you peace of mind modding! No warranty to lose!

edit:

Im still laughing about the C4 interior looks.

Why wait? There are hundreds of them for sale around here. I bet I could find a few dozen 2009-2011 models easy within 200 miles of me.
