I voted for Trump purely for the SCOTUS Appointments. Nothing more.

This is a hard battle for you to win. It was a conservative think tank that came up with the idea, it was first adopted by a Republican Governor who eventually became the party's nominee. I'm sure there were some changes but to act like it wasn't a conservative idea is just silly. I'll accept you saying it was a conservative idea but I don't like it.

Also its become a democratic idea because we adopted it. I do feel comfortable saying the majority of democrats would perfer a single payer but regardless our president and congress enacted it and it's a good first step even with its flaws.

I didn't say that it wasn't a republican idea to begin with. Here is a quote of what I actually said:

Apologies it appeared to me that you were trying to squirm out of the ACA having Republican origins. That does not appear to be the case now.

The answer is still NO. There were some similarities but there were many fundamental differences. And there was never anything anywhere close to majority Republican support for this plan in 1993.

When did I say that I approved the proposal? I didn't. You need to stop assuming. I know that you (and your above pal) have to disagree with everything I say, but think about things before posting. ACA has helped some people a lot, it has also hurt some people a lot. I know people on both sides, and they have different opinions about it obviously. You probably know people on both sides as well. Just using a number that 20m Americans have healthcare due to ACA and acting like everything is roses and rainbows is disingenuous.

You dance all around the central argument & fundamental disagreement. Repubs' ultimate healthcare plan is Free Market! simply because that means no redistribution, no shifting of the burden to the top where it's not much of a real burden at all. Dems, including wealthy Dems, are trying to take it the other way so that everybody can have care when they need it.

The ACA is, in truth, a huge compromise in favor of the Repub POV but that's not good enough- they want it all- all the benefits of a first world society & none of the responsibility that should go along with the enormous success enjoyed by those at the top.

Even better I just saw that Paul Ryan wants to try again and supposedly has a plan to share with donors next week. I mean he really only needs a couple more days to string something together that the HFC and the moderates will support. For sure.

Also he wants to work on tax reform in parallel.

When one takes their first step and falls flat on their face perhaps the next attempt shouldn't involve jugging chainsaws at the same time.

Republicans have absolutely no intention of having the govt serve the healthcare needs of the people because it requires redistribution of income. They are ideologically opposed & will say anything to make it appear otherwise. Their radical right billionaire backers crave tax cuts & are flogging them to deliver so they'll Cut! Cut! CUT! whatever they can to make that happen. It's hard to imagine anybody being that greedy, but, well, yeh, so it is.

That is not a concession of anything. You were and are wrong, but refuse to admit it. Taking some ideas from a plan from a conservative think tank is not seeking Republican Guidance by any stretch of the imagination.

Keep twisting. Maybe one day you will squirt out a fact. Just not today.
