After watching all the events unfolding today I was quite struck by the cowardice of our commander-in-chief. As millions of New Yorkers and people around the DC area feared for there lives, where was our President? As Mayor Giuliani, Governor Pitacki, and members of the House and Senate rushed to the scenes of the attacks and were visible to comfort the nation, the President was running with his tail between his legs to Omaha.

As thousands of his countrymen died, he covered his own @ss. And please don't say the NSA made him go. Any President worth crap would have gone back to DC to be there for his country. What good is a President if he can't be there for us when we need him?

And the speech tonight by the President was equally embarassing. America won't back down? Last time I checked, you ran to Nebraska. He kept talking about symbols. What kind of a symbol is it to the attackers when they cause the supposed most powerful man in the world to run cowering to some bunker in the middle of nowhere? A symbol that the President and America are weak and scared.

I'm just disgusted with the cowardliness of our so-called President. The country needed him and he was worried only about himself. His behavior is all the more repulsive in light of the actions of other leaders around the New York and DC areas.
 
Snow, I kinda agree with you. I have never been a big fan on Guiliani, but I was proud to see him walk the streets on downtown NYC. I would vote for him now.

Exactly, which is why he went to Omaha. How was the NSA suppose to know that the terrorists weren't pointing their guns (or planes) at him? They didn't know that he wasn't a target.
If he would have been killed by one of these attacks think of how much more crazy things would be right now...especially if it could have been avoided.
 
The President does not act on his own. His status makes him a prime target that could potentially be a fatal blow to this country. Even if he wanted to, the SS would not have let him divert from their defensive plan of moving him around to various places.

Not like you'd have more balls than he did in the situation anyway.
 
actually during these acts of terrorism i'd doubt they'd be trying to kill some new york mayor...a more likely target would be the president of the united states. can u imagine what that would symbolize to the rest of america if they managed to kill him? u say what good is a president who isn't here in our time of need but what good is a president if he's dead? if anybody his life was more in danger than anybody else's. i don't really see why he needed to be on the scene anyways. and i wonder if you noticed that he is back in washington now, not exactly "in hiding" anymore.

That's exactly the point. He wasn't there when we needed him. After the fact, I could care less. What, he lets everyone die and then rolls out from his bunker to let us know he's all right and he feels bad. That's pathetic.

Second, as to his safety, they were jumbo jets. they weren't flying at supersonic speeds. ANy jet apporaching DC would have been shot down by the fighter patrols. He wasn't in danger, he was just confused and scared and looking after himself.

Out President is supposed to put the people of America first and he did just the opposite.

Whew, and I didn't believe it when I was told that most of the US population is eloquent and stupid.
 
We should back him fully (Bush that is). There are certain procedures in place that need to be followed to protect our President. What if he did rush back to the White House to conduct business there instead of the secure bunker they had him in and that downed plane actually was headed for the white house and hit it? We would be with out a leader and look very weak to the world. We must stand in unity politicaly, there is will be plenty of time for us to get back to our petty Rep/Dem/Lib bickering when this is all over.

The Presidents job is to stay alive and in command and control. Most of the time they do stupid macho stuff and get shot or something then there is chaos in the command structure. Of course Dick Cheney would have taken over and he would know exactly what to do.

The President should stay out of the middle of it and just provide whatever support that he can.
 
Pres Bush has to evacute, it's far more important for him to stay alive. Can you imagine if he got capped while walkin around in ny? I don't think Dick can handle this country esp when he is chronically in the hospital it seems.

I'm a Republican, a strong supporter of Bush, and I totally agree, he was a wimp today...

This was his chance to show backbone, and he blew it...

I'm rather disapointed...

I would like to have seen him in Washington... Once fighters were up, the real danger was gone, they could have shot down any airliners that got near Bush...

Obviously you can't read or comprehend something called sequence of events. I'll explain it to you. Bush was in FLA during the attacks. There was no warning. Afterwards fighters were scrambled. By the time he would have gotten to DC fighters were blanketing the DC air space.
