Anyone else do somewhat strange things to make life easier?

Couple things I do that most don't:

Always have an EDC in my pocket and pen and paper.

EDC is an "every day carry" small single AAA (rechargable) cell flashlight, of which I have many to choose from. Keep a supply of charged Eneloops on hand. I use my EDC probably 25+ times/day. It's an old house I live in and not as well lighted as modern homes (110 years old!).

i'm somewhat like you:

1) when i worked nights, i carried a single AA flashlight in a pouch on my belt.

the number of times i actually used the flashlight over the years is less than 5.
a year after i stopped working nights, i stopped carrying it thinking that i can use my cellphone as a flashlight.

# of times i used my phone as a flashlight since i stopped working nights = 0.

2) for decades i carried (and still do) a cheap pen in my back pocket.
# of times i actually had to use it = less than 10.
most of that was to sign my credit card receipt because the pen the waitress brought me didnt work.

I have a lot of tape measures. Since I would previously struggle to locate one when I needed one I now have one for each floor plus one for the garage and another matching pair for whatever project I'm working on (because projects take me months if not years). I even used to have a floating spare but I got a little over zealous with a knife and cut through the tape

When I'm working, I have one tape rule on my tool belt and another one at my cutting table. I almost always end up with two at the cutting table...and none on the tool belt.

I mean I absolutely love you guys but you are all completely mental and it scares me that you are left in charge of important stuff without supervision! 😳

For work I keep a loop of paracord(6' straight/3' loop) in my beltloops and clipped with a biner. If I'm doing any kind of work around the house(outside) I have it on also. Makes a good third hand. I've used it to pull fence wire, a hold for a garage door cable, a handle to pull a tarp full of sticks, hold a stormdoor open, pull tree limbs out of the way without breaking them, fish stuff out of jobsite containers without climbing in... All kinds of stuff.

I can watch that moss peat stuff you just bought.
Watch it!?
You can drink some if you want but I don't want people just looking at my booze!
That said there's only a bit left so if you want to help finish it off I can try something else!
I mean you'd be doing me a favour plus good booze should be drunk and enjoyed with friends (even if they are internet weird friends!).

Speaking of flashlights I really want to build myself a 18650 powered LED one. An 18650 cell fits perfectly in 3/4" copper pipe, so that's a good start. I just want a flash light that has on and off, that's it. They don't seem to make those anymore, they all have these stupid flash modes and crap you need to cycle through.

You're in luck...they don't come much weirder than highland... 😛

Your smartphone doesn't have that function?
