anyone else disappointed in the Ground Zero designs?

u can find them here- NYPost poll

the one most NY'ers like is the promenade according to NYPost...but thats just cause it has some resemblance to the twin towers...

i think all are pretty sad and dont look like they belong in NY

feedback on NYPost seems pretty strong too that people dont like these ideas NYpost forum

I didn't like them either....felt as if they were trying to make Manhattan look like some suburban neighbourhood of NYC 🙁

i dont like them either... i say we should build one big massive tower.... almost as tall as the wtc buildings... atleast to restore the skyline to the once memorable one

I think they should have one huge tower that is the biggest in the world. The base would cover the entire block and it would go 1.5x higher than the Sears Tower.

Mr Zippy- that is a great one. I wish we could get the Anandtech mods to mail every AT member and see if we could voice our support.

I was definately disappointed with them but I'd have to agree with the New Yorkers, of all the designs I'd say the promenade's best.

For those of you who want taller/bigger buildings, you have to realize that:

1) not many people are willing to work in such a building (for what they will represent) any longer.

2) businesses may not want to take a chance making their living in such a place for multiple reasons.

Out of the available concepts, I personally liked #2 - the square - because of the distribution of space and the amount of new buildings that will be put up. But I'd agree 100% to a simple memorial park.

Two words: Phalanx CIWS.

Put one on the corner of every tower. 😉
