Picture speaks for itself...

48-56 fps on the sea when I snipped that. Pretty clear the first core is binding the rest for me, and this is at 4.8GHz so it's not like I can do much better.

Ignore the second cards usage it is mining :|

Just another badly optimized PC port. The PS4 version has much better resources utilization. Ubisoft don't care about PC, that's all.

Thats why we need Mantle big time and why it will be a huge gain for us pc gamers.
Its absolutely the biggest thing for gfx development since 3d and 2d acceleration.

And thats why people should buy cgn cards and support Mantle. Mantle is the only solution to all the awfull pc ports.

We need Mantle because Ubisoft is too cheap to properly optimize the game for the PC? o_O To my knowledge, Assassin's Creed has never run all that well on the PC.

On BF4 I am yes, but I think when they fix the bugs they might be able to patch it so the optimization is better, not an expert and I'm probably wrong but that is me.

I assume when you mine, that you got alot of interrupts. Can you try without?

What settings you use? How many FPS do you get?
I mean, it runs solid 30FPS on an console with APU, considered by some 8 core Tablet chip
Edit: nvm I missed the part below the image. Maybe mining is causing this?

I'm going to install Windows 7 and report back, nothing but headaches with AMDs drivers right now under 8.1 :(

Yes.
Mantle makes it financially sound to make a proper port. And thats the incentive the devs need.

- If thats true then I guess we're not seeing the multicore-x86 console effect rubbing off on the PC ports just yet.. or at least with this title.

It uses multicore, it just uses the extra threads for rendering distance and AI I imagine.

Still bound on up the main thread however.

Also AMD driver woes transferred over to Windows 7 so rejoice 8.1 users...

Evidently I'm doing something incredibility unheard of trying to mine with one card while gaming on the other...

Edit:

Ugh, good many deities that was flipping two days of pain.

As I said 13.11 was just as bad on W7 as W8.1... Well that's not true, it was actually worse. It got to the point where I couldn't even boot with the driver working, ati BSOD.

Reverted back to the last driver before they miffed ULPS (which is somewhat the issue I was having, either it would shut off the PC or it would crash the driver using 99% gpu at start up), which was 13.6 Beta 2... I couldn't do that with Windows 8.1 since it is pre support :(

Anyways, it seems to work as it's supposed to now so now to test the performance impact of mining the second card if any...

Oh graphics settings, everything to the right. Except AA, using SMAA and no AO.

Another game frame limited? I wonder why it got popular. Rome 2 etc.

And why 62?

I haven't had any issues myself. The game does use multicore as you mention. It's dynamic though, with CPU load dependent on what's going on in the game and on the screen. I'm seeing activity on all 12 threads of my CPU, but with one to three cores seeing the highest loads.

It's possible the game engine uses multithreaded rendering like it's predecessor AC3, so it may have higher CPU utilization under NVidia hardware as AMD doesn't support that feature.

I haven't progressed very far in the game (I'm still in Havana) but I intend to get some play time in today..

I was under the impression there were extra weather dynamics with the PC version when at sea

Does AMD still not support that?
