Im making dinner at home and buying roses from costco. I dont see the romance in paying inflated valetines prices for food along with super crowded noisy restaurants this saturday night.

I'm taking my wife on a weekend getaway to a bed & breakfast. Dinner and dancing on Saturday and a afternoon of shopping on Sunday.

We are going out to an ethnic (indian) place for dinner, so it won't be crowded. Then spending a quiet evening at home. I got her an XM radio, she got a present (i'm not sure what she got me yet).

I haven't gone out to dinner in a long time, so i figured why not with the lady. Get me a big steak, her some flowers and a sweet card, and everyone is happy.

I'm taking my lovers out for a manicure. ;)

just kididng.... I'm taking her for a weekend in the city but this will be a present that's combined with her birthday, and it's not for v-day weekend, it's the weekend after. So I guess you can say I'm being frugal.

semi-frugal.

I'm flying up to visit for the weekend and taking her out to a nice dinner in San Francisco.

I told her not to expect any other gifts because tickets and dinner are going to cost enough.

a picnic for lunch--a walk around balboa island--then cooking dinner together.

Being thrifty... saving to build a new house; construction to begin this summer. I'll probably cook a really nice dinner for her and deliver it to her at work. Something with shrimp and maybe a lobster tail or something.

I am thinking a few flowers (can not afford a dozen roses) a card and maybe take her out for dinner. I can't afford much, but will try to make do.

But does it have to be the 14th?

What if you are wined and dined on the 13th? 15th? Maybe March 14th? Does the date matter?

Feb. 14 = automatically gets a 50% premium on everything. :|

Mosh I thought you dropped off the face of the Earth ;)

I'm closing on a house the Monday following V-Day so that is where my money is going and she knows it. There won't be any extra spending going on with all the paint, new furniture, landscaping and God knows what else I have to buy going on.

No... I'm frugal EVERY valentines day. Lame holiday and my wife agrees.

Some things you just don't do frugally! :p

And in return he lets you have sex with him? Not a bad deal. :)

Actually, did you have to put forth the request to take HIM out for this day, since generally the guy treats the girl to dinner.

Hmmm...We're adults here and since we live together rather than just dating things are different. We actually discussed the matter and asked each other what gifts to get.I want flowers, candy, weight lifting gloves, belt.he wants computer stuff.why buy things that the other person doesn't really want?
