Well I'll be buying a faster car a year later but "we" need something that is fairly new for warranty and also quite cheap, and I want something bigger than an echo - plus have you seen the gas mileage on these new Civics? Not bad - especially the HX coming out soon/or out now.
Oh i have no intention of that, it will be the wifey's car. Then when she gets a job and stops mooching off me *cough* we'll get a nicer car, I'm thinking maxima or prelude.
well, its honda which means that it will run perfectly and give you no troubles under almost any condition. i don't know anyone that has gotten one yet, but i do know that honda wouldn't put out a product that wasn't as good or better than the previous one

I wouldn't say that about the '89 accord I picked up earlier this year and sank $1500 into in repairs over 6 months before getting rid of the damn thing
I got unlucky though, Hondas are supposed to be pretty good, and they have a great warranty.
Yeah I have owned several Honda's and they have been EXCELLENT in the repairs department. But the 96 Accord I bought last year has 1200 in repairs in the last month, and counting. It has also been recalled due to a defective electrical component under the hood. Man I think I am going to buy a Chevy Silverado and get it over with. Enough with these econo-boxes!!!
Civic Aero Deck 1.8 VTi running here and no probs so far....
Only thing is Mercedes, BMW and Audi drivers get pretty angry being stunned by a Japanese "family car" on the Autobahn, Hehe, understatement cars rule....
180 hp out of an 1800 cc engine ain't that bad.
BTW owned an CRX Del Sol before *drool*
edit: bought an "A"
I drove one last night. Best car for the money, BY FAR! I loved it, the clutch and transmission were so smooth, precise, crisp. I throughly enjoyed it, I didn`t want to let go of it.
The VW's don't really loose much with an automatic. They do a pretty good job of maximizing performance w/ the auto's. Plus, the milage difference is neglible.
Just a thought.
But yes, I do agree with you, the clutches are very long. I personally did not care for the travel distance of them either. The Audi's are the same way.
