So despite the fact that I'm a Mets fan, I'm heading down to a Yankee game this coming Saturday & I've been reading that the parking situation is extremely bad due to the 4 largest parking lots being closed during construction of the new ballpark.

If anyone has driven down there for a game recently I could use some advice as to how long before the game I'll need to arrive to garantee I get a parking spot close to the stadium ... Thanks!

IT SUCKS!!!!

I got there and had a parking pass for the garage right next to the stadium (lot 8 I think), but it was Full.

So they sent me to lot 16, which was 2 miles away in the heart of the bronx, in a makeshift parking lot that was once a construction zone. Had to walk like 12 blocks no exaggeration, and if it was at night I would have just left because the neighborhood was bad.

I planned on getting their 2 hours early to tailgate on the roof of the garage, but because so many streets are closed because of the construction it was backed up for miles and I got there in the 3rd inning. I was coming from NJ though...

It was worth it though, I had owner's tickets, right behind the first base dugout...I was so close to reaching out and touching jeter or a-rod.

Wow that really sucks! :(

I'm coming from Connecticut so I won't have to deal with the GWB at least, but it sounds like I'll need to leave at like 9:45am for a 1:10pm game because I'm bringing my 9 y/o daughter & I don't want to have to walk 12 blocks with her in tow.

Edit: Did you come south on the Deegan to 161st st or exit directly from the Cross Bronx?

I think I'm going to take the Bruckner to the Deegan NB & try my luck getting off at 149st ... hopefully if I get there by 10:45/11:00am I'll still be able to get a spot in one of the lots on River ave.

I want to take my daughter to see the monuments & have some time to let her look around anyway, so the extra time won't go to waste ... I'll report back tomorrow night.

Haven't been to a game yet this year, but when I go I try to avoid the Deegan traffic, by going over the GW and exiting on the Harlem River Dr, taking 155th st. exit and going over the Macombs Dam Bridge. Goes right to the stadium.
