Anyone drive a 2008 Accord?

So most of the reviews on the net have been pretty good. My wife and I both test drove it around this weekend, and it felt pretty nice. Anyone around here get one and what do you think about it after driving it around for a while? We're looking at the EX I4 version, enough pick up for the wife and better mileage.

Nice ride, all the reviews I read seem to say its a solid well rounded car. It's pretty big so I hope you guys plan to take advantage of all that room.

Yeah its pretty cavernous inside compared to our current cars (civic, integra). Considering we're both under 5'6", my knees were about a foot away from the front seat when I sat in the back. Kids will be coming along in a year or so, well have loads of family and things to carry around.

Currently negotiating with some places, unfortunately there arent any incentives or anything at this time. Im being quoted at 22.2K+TTL for an EX I4. When I drove it on the freeway, it wasnt that loud, it wasnt perfectly quiet, but it was better than what I currently drive.

I was in the honda dealership this weekend, and they had a loaded v6 w/navi model in the showroom. I have to admit it was a nice looking car. The interior looked very comfortable.

do u have something against 4 cylinder engines, want sure because there is no tone in text 😉

But IMO 4 cylinder engine are much easier to work on then v6's, plus there is no need for a bigger engine unless he is planning to put a trailer hitch a pulling a boat

Um...what? No need for a bigger engine? It's like saying why do you need a DSLR when a P&S camera takes the exact same pictures? Or your super duper fancy graphics card on your super computer...both of which are in your signature. Some people like the extra power, just like some people like the better pictures, or the slightly better FPS they get in games.

Good car, but the I4 is a bit underpowered and the road noise was pretty bad in the V6 model (not sure about I4). The engine/transmission in the I4 models have been bulletproof. We had one guy who got 240k out of his '03 Accord EX I4 with virtually no repairs.

The Camry V6 (in the SE trim) is very powerful and returns the same gas mileage according to CR. It only costs about $1500 more. Look into it.

If you decide to go with the Accord EX I4, don't pay more than $22,000 before TTL for the car. Dealers here in the SF Bay Area are selling them for 21-22k.

The EX has 190hp. That's not a ton of power for a largish "mid-size" (technically a large) car, but people have gotten so spoiled.

Yes, the new Accord has become huge! Every new car must be larger & heavier and have more hp; but people still want fuel economy... doesn't really work.
But 190hp is the same as my 1997 V6 used to give off... seems like a lot to me. Plus it should last quite awhile.
Some have commented that it's loud... I think it should be fine, just don't expect it to be as quiet as Acura, BMW, or Lexus.

Thanks for the advice so far, the noise in the I4 doesnt bother me and its got plenty of power for the wife (its mostly her car). Here in Sacramento ive gotten the dealers down to 22.2(incl destination)+TTL, maybe ill toss some bay area dealers in the mix. My strike price was under 22K.

I'm originally from Sacramento, but I'm in Santa Cruz right now. Sacramento dealers don't give out very good deals. You'll get a much better price from the bay area dealers.

Call up Robert at Anderson Honda in Palo Alto. He was selling the EX I4 for 21288??? I think a few weeks ago. I have a $500 coupon from him in my e-mail.

The guy at Grace Honda is also great.

PM me.

PM sent, thanks for the info.

I got an internet quote from Anderson for 21988, if I can get my hands on the coupon that probably would seal the deal. Heh, Ill take you to lunch or something if you can help me out 🙂

omg get the v6... it has vcm so you will get almost as good mpg out of it as the i4. the 08's are too huge in my opinion. i have an 07 and i think it's too big lol

V6 is a lot more $$$. And the I4 is plenty for the average driver.

Yeah, they actually did step up the I4 from what it used to be. The 01 V6 puts out 200hp, so 190 won't be that much different . Should be a good sweet spot.

Anyone know what the torque is off hand?

The 01's(V6) I think are ~200hp and 200 torque.

If you have the money though, DON'T SKIMP ON THE ENGINE!!!

Heh heh, Ive got plenty of money, I just dont think that the extra 2K is justified in any reasonable way. The wifes going to drive it mostly, she wont care, it's mostly an around town grocery getter. And the extra 2-3 mpg one the I4 seals the deal.

i agree, the new 190HP i4 won't be too bad, but i wouldn't be too quick to compare the 01 w/ the 08, because im sure the 08 weighs a hell of alot more!

Both friends of mine who have purchased one have had problems with the tire pressure monitoring system. Just fyi. Both were the i4 EX.
