heard this the radio on the way home.

some band, I am assuming a "local" band down in florida I belive, is going to allow a fan who is terminally ill to commit suicide on stage during a show...wtf is up with that? the guy going to kill himself said he was doing it to "bring awareness" to something, not sure if he was talking about suicide or his disease. I was flipping though stations when i heard this so it may not be too accurate.

Hell on Earth is an alternative rock band known for its stage antics, which have included grinding up rats in a blender. The group said last week on its Web site that a terminally ill member of a right-to-die group plans to commit suicide on stage in a political statement about euthanasia.

I wonder what symbolic political meaning of grinding up a rat in a blender has.

That's probably just a fvcked up way to draw attention to themselves. After that fan kills himself on stage they won't need it anymore, they'll have more media attention than they could have wished for.

wow... definitely not right...

Forcing someone who is terminally ill to suffer terrible pain for as long as possible is far more Christian.

I agree. If you do not have the freedom to end your own life in a dignified and graceful manner (or otherwise, in a manner of your own choosing), then all freedoms in society are nothing but a sad illusion.

It's disturbing what some people will do for publicity. Just shows the stupidity we have to deal with on a daily basis. We may not be the best human examples here on ATOT but I don't they any of us are that low.

From the Rolling Stones:

If I could stick a knife in my heart
Suicide right on the stage
Would it be enough for your teenage lust?
Would it help ease your pain?
Ease your brain if I could dig down deep in my heart
Feelings would flood on the page
Would it satisfy ya
would it slide on by ya?
Would you think the boy's insane?
He's insayayane.

I said I know it's only rock and roll
But I like it.
I said I know
it's only rock and roll
But I like it
like it
yes I do.
Well
I like it
oh yes
I like it
I like it

Hey, if the dipstick wants to kill himself to promote a cause, why shouldn't the band let him, and get a packed house in the process?

I'm all for people killing themselves for stuff like that. Why? If they're even considering doing something like that I don't want 'em in MY gene pool! What's funny is I'm a firm believer in the Right to Die.

Now if someone's trying to kill themselves because of depression or other EMOTIONAL reasons, I'm all for stopping them and showing them there's more to life than whatever is making them want to kill themselves. This kind of suicide is an attempt to end a crippling emotional pain, and should be treated as any other physical issue.

I don't see anyone letting this happen. Now that they've announced it I doubt it ever will.

Taking advantage of someone's disease to justify a broadcasted suicide just to bring an audience to your performance and more hits to your site is far more Secular.

1. What does this have to do with Christianity?

2. Most people, christian or not, would agree that killing yourself in front of hundreds of people is just sickening. If you want to end your life because of an disease, don't make your death more gruesome than your life.

1. Most of the people here saying you can't kill yourself use God as argument for it.

2. If he does it in the quiet of his house it will be filed away as suicide, without anyone ever hearing about it. If he wants to bring euthanasia to the attention of the public he has to find some way to do this. What better way than to make such a controversial show of it?

This kind of suicide is an attempt to end a crippling emotional pain, and should be treated as any other physical issue.

The problem here is many will not see this as right to die, they will just see the suicide and believe that if they are depressed then there is always that way out. Promoting suicide is never logical, honorable or right. This band is just looking for a cheep thrill or to sell more tickets and get a "rise" out of others. I equate this to that story about the kid taking mushrooms and talking on the internet threatening suicide then running through his neighborhood. Many prompted him to do it, and wanted it done on a web cam. Yeah, if they knew he was serious I'm sure some wouldn't have prompted but some still would have. Suicide is a serious thing, whether terminally sick or not it is not something that should be displayed in public. My point is that some may see this and feel that it's no big deal to take their own life, and eventually act on it like they did in columbine. And don't think I'm saying the music made anyone do anything but put those suggestions to an unstable mind (one must be unstable to consider suicide) and it just don't help the situation.

Tomorrow might have been a brighter day.

So are you in charge of deciding which emotional pains are worthy of suicide?
