I created a 256 MB RAM disk, put Da Vinci Teaser 1080p on it and it played with just 1 small glitch and 2 near unnoticeable ones. That's in stark contrast to using it on my hard disk, even though that file was contiguous. I thought the DiamondMax 10 was supposed to be damn fast but I guess the thing is still starved for bandwidth in that way. The decoder should definitely be putting the whole thing in to memory first or much bigger chunks of it. In other words, inefficient players.

1080p on the davinci code is running choppy. prolly cause i clocked down from 3.4 to 2.4C...and of course my video card is a geforce3. 720p for the davinci code however runs fine.

meh i can only play 720p for some reason. mobile barton @2.2ghz+6600gt vlc is unstable, media player classic does 1fps, and media player decodes more frames but so slowly the audio runs ahead:p and i do have stuff like the newest fdshow or whatever installed. only vlc correctly plays the 720p too:p

No problem with VLC player, emachines 6811 (amd3200+, 9600xt-ish video card), slower than molasses 4200 rpm disk.

I bet I can get it to work on my myth box with an amd1600+ -- stay tuned!

I just played this on my IBM x41 with 1.5Ghz P-M. It almost played perfectly. I was thinking that it was going to stutter all over the place. I don't think quicktime has a statistics option, like WMP. But usually, it plays the windows media player 1080p movie thingy with at most 10 frames skipped. Go figure... But my desktop with Athlon XP 3200 stutters so bad it is hilarious. Gotta love the P-M.
