Did some detective work and figured out the difference. The "Super MD-80" is another term for the MD-82, an improved version of the standard MD-80.

The MD-SP80 is an extended 170+ seat version of the MD80.
There is also a model of the Cessna Citation Jet called SP-80 - this is a small, 8 seat executive jet

Actually, guys, "Super 80" is a term given to ANY of the MD80 series. The aircraft are improved versions of the DC9. In fact, officially they are designated "DC-9-80" and would be a "DC-9 Super 80". An MD82 is a DC-9-82 and so on. MDC began calling them MD8x after the full merger, dropping the super designation. Some airlines kept it.

So, a "Super 80" is anything in the MD-80 family, which are improved DC9s. "Super" DC9s. :)
